Why government desperately needs e-tolling to work

*points and laughs at Ismail*

They don't need to change their mindset Ismail, you need to stop trying to rip off the citizens of the area.

Pay it with the taxes you already get from fuel and licensing fees you ****tards. That is why that taxes are there.

A - would be cheaper to get the money from a fuel levy
B - the planned upgrades cost R120 billion only because R119 billion of that goes to the oink trough.

price fixing price fixing like the white elephants.. not forgetting kickbacks to family...

Scrap etolls and fund the model another way by increasing the license disc by R150 fuel level by R5. Once monies has been received lower the fuel levy.

“We are going to have to find another mechanism. So those who advocate the fuel levy as the only option, like the opposition parties, they must see whether the rest of the country supports it.

Like the e-tolls? Like Nkandla?

Pot ... kettle .... black.

It's not that we don't want new highways... It's just that we don't trust you with the money.
You'll use it to build another Nkandla.

They sure have no problem accepting their share of income tax collected from Gauteng.

feck off. Why should we pay for the corruption and collusion?

Claw that money back from the recipients first.

So how much is your e-toll bill these days? Mine is sitting at 20k atm. :(

It was 23k last we checked, I then promptly used that stack as firelighters.
An e-toll bill is better than Blitz, I promise you that, Soak it for 10 minutes in methylated spirits, and then watch how it makes an awesome start to that awesome braai. Now that the postal service has died and I no longer get them, I have had to go and buy Blitz again.

How about this, recover all stolen money and stop wastage, you can start with our beacon of hope "Nkaaaaandla".

Then, after you have exhausted all possibilities, maybe, just maybe we will support this

Let me get this right, taxes that is payable my people living in Gauteng must be used for the whole country, but the additional fuel levy paid by the whole country should not be used in Gauteng. :wtf: That is just a stupid argument.

How about this, taxes paid by people in Gauteng must 1st be used for local purposes (infrastructure, public transport, corruption, etc) and what is left can be distributed to the rest of the country.

Can those in charge please get past the culture of me, myself and I and maybe, then maybe something for the others!

Considering Jozi is the majority of GDP.

Considering Jozi is the majority of GDP.

Agree with you and agree that funds should be used across board, but the mentality (culture) shared among MECs is just gimme, gimme, gimme without anything in return. Then when something s left, oops we need to spent it on something stupid just to use it.

Sometimes I wonder what these politicians smoke, because I would dearly love some...

Government taxes economically active individuals as well as companies and levies road users by means of the fuel levy. These collections are to be utilised to build and maintain infrastructure across the entire country. Asking people to pay twice is tantamount to theft.

The only time I'll pay e-tolls is when they drop the fuel levy. Fuel is already over-levied in this country... We supply Namibia with fuel and yet their price per litre is significantly less than ours.

This government has become obsessed with collecting in order to reduce the budget deficit instead of cutting expenses. It's a slippery slope we're on...

Yeah, forcing the user pays prinicple on us only when it suits their agenda.

Totally expected tho from the same lot who tried to whitewash a certain Nkandla deception by calling a luxury pool a firepool. It's like they cannot help themselves from lying.
