As the topic states. What is your views on this? I am not talking on the legal side of this as per Basic Conditions of employment Act. I am assuming you have enough leave available, and get no resistance from your employer when you want to take leave. I am thinking of stress etc.

I think it depends on how hard you work.

If you just work 8 - 5, not much over time. Then one good break a yearis probably enough.

I try to take at least 2 long weekends during the year and I am forced to take a 2-week break over Christmas.

I take a holliday about 2-3 times a year. 1 or two short ones and the the december 3-4 week get away :D

I like to take two vacations a year, one in June and one in December. I will take one or two long weekends during the year as well.

I feel burnt out! In 26 years at my current company, I have only once (6 years ago), taken leave of longer than 2 weeks continiously. Otherwhise I only take 2 weeks in March, 1 week in September and, work allowing, the week between Christmas and New Year.

Do you have kids which require taking off on school holidays? My wife and I prefer to go on leave out of them.

i think it all comes down to what sorta job you have, i find that I can go any where between 6 to 8 months before i need a break.

And I prefer to take my breaks outside the school holidays, everything is just so much calmer, also during school holidays the traffic is so much better and working is actually quite pleasant

I work in a school and its quite draining but very rewarding. I love it but I enjoy the school holidays where I can just sit back and chill...
