just a quick scan thru the thread and I got the post re. Egypt, Nubia, Ethiopia, Mali and Ghana. fwiw, Nubia is not a country but a region which forms part of Sudan and Egypt. Ja, I spose if you compare them to other ineptly run African countries they have a semblance of propsperity [with required begging bowl in hand], but when have we wanted to revel in mediocrity?

They are the fastest growing economy in the world next to China....
They will probably take over SA eventually, the only reason they are still held down is because of AIDS and small population.

It may be that smaller population that contributes to the steady pace of the Botswana Economy without draining it with over population and mass urbanisation.
Comparably South Africa has no adequate Family Planning in the sense of poor people may have lots of babies in order to get Welfare Grants with no vision as to those children's future well-being. Plus who knows how big our Population really is as more and more people pour over our borders every day in search of something better putting more strain on our Economy.
Another point that can be added to Botswana's growing Economy is the fact that there are thousands of very able Farmers from Zimbabwean origin managing very successful farms in that country.
I wish the Botswana people great success.

Farmers would have moved from Zim to Botswana only recently whereas Botswana has always been doing well.
