Why is dieting beyond 90 days so hard?

This is why I’m not dieting. I’ve gone back to the gym instead. For me, I prefer the gym grind and still eating pretty much whatever I want (within reason) to a wall-to-wall healthy diet with no extra exercise.

because after 3 months you either see little gains for so much effort or you doing something unsustainable

What about you DIY or move on? You know how easy it is to show the transcript and copy pasta it into an AI for a summary?
That's not nice. :( usually when one drop video links it is because something specific got your interest and you have an opinion on it and therefore require a thread to discuss it.

What about YOU take the effort and use AI to generate a summary and then YOU ask AI to create YOUR opinion on it for us. And then we can participate in a discussion. What's with the attitude?

Otherwise we have a thread for YouTube link drops:

We’re all dieting. Unless you’re on a hunger strike.
No we're not.

Diet = the food you eat.
To diet / dieting = the intentional modification of your diet to achieve certain outcomes.

If you're just eating whatever you've been eating your whole life, or paying no attention to what you eat... you're not dieting, even though yes - you obviously still have a diet.

what's the gist?
Key Takeaways:
The Role of Insulin: Insulin is described as the "fat storage hormone." When we eat low-fiber carbohydrates, blood glucose rises, triggering insulin release. Once muscle and liver glycogen stores are full, insulin directs excess glucose to be stored as fat [07:06].
The Hunger Cycle: High insulin levels prevent the body from breaking down existing fat for energy (by inhibiting the enzyme hormone-sensitive lipase). This leaves the body low on energy, leading to lethargy and constant hunger [07:50]. Essentially, people don't eat because they are fat; they eat because their biology is signaling an energy deficit while locking away their fat stores [08:29].
Historical Context: The video notes that low-carbohydrate diets were the standard medical advice for weight loss for nearly 200 years until 1977 [04:16]. That year, the USDA introduced dietary guidelines recommending a reduction in fat and an increase in "heart-healthy" starches, which correlates with the start of the modern obesity epidemic [04:02].
Biology vs. Willpower: The author argues that weight regulation is a homeostatic process, similar to body temperature or blood pressure. If fed the "proper" diet ( low in suger and processed carbs), the body naturally regulates consumption. Overeating on a high-carb diet is a biological response, not a failure of willpower [09:49]

eat whole foods
Why whenever I read the opinion of a dietician it annoys me. They're usually so concerned with short term results that they prescribe these nonsense diets that aren't sustainable, then people wonder why theyre back to their usual diet a year later. You either make a permanent shift to eating whole foods or its going to be a lot of struggle.
