The folk at Iburst simply don't seem to understand that many of their clients are using iburst for business connectivity and that the inability to send email through theior SMTP server cost aggravation and REAL money in terms of wasted time, not to mention not being able to service their own clients effectively - a real ripple effect.
It seems to me that Iburst are running their network on the basis of servicing domestic users and not business users.
This SMTP overload problem has been apparent for quite some time now, not just the last two days.
The lack of feedback from Ed, Shaun and anyone else at IBurst on this forum in respect of this issue is also worrying - what are you guys trying to hide????????????????
Or don't you actually know what the problem (or solution is).
BTW - running off the Centurion tower - this tower seems overloaded as well as speeds are frustrating low (again for some time).
Please repeat after me: There is no problem. There is no problem. There...
This appears to be the iBurst101 for helpdesk operators. In fact this issue has been escalated once to senior management. It continues....
Monday was the same. TINP was the response from helpdesk, despite the fact that I continuously tried to send 3 x text messages to a client. A call was logged. No response as yet. Yesterday I submitted a follow up call on the iBurst website, referring to the call ref for Monday. Zero response as yet.

!!
Talking about cost and embarrassment? Imagine you client chasing 5
Billion ZAR a month in targets (yes
B I L L I O N !!) They are an important part of my income. This was explained in the last call logged online.
Since this is not the first TINP, not only mail, but other issues, I bit the bullet. I now have my own server with my own port for mail. I am now saved from the embarrassment of using free mail providers. Amazingly the response is excellent despite the server being overseas. Yes, it did cost me a packet.
I am now looking at alternate fax2email options locally, since I had to re-divert clients faxing me to another number.
As for the statement of "free" earlier: There is no free! You pay for it. This is built into the costing model. As technology costs comes down, these gimmicks are thrown in and quickly become part the offerings of most ISPs to keep them competitive. Alternatively their costs could have come down. So these add-ons are self serving to the ISP.
The catch is if you advertise it, you have to support it. There lies the rub.
While I could once again phone management at iBurst, I am getting tired of this. I stated my requirement for reliable services prior to going iBurst. I was assured it would meet or exceed my expectations. It has not!!
To anybody from iBurst reading this:
a) You do have technical issues, regardless of what your help desk says, and
b) You are not living up to your promise. Senior management denied what I read off your website, and the implication only sunk in when I gave the URL where I obtained my info. This was late in the evening, about 10PM! Your director was trying to sleep, I was trying to work.
