9MB per hour of my allowance?

I have left my laptop by itself with no applications running for two hours now and according to iBurst I have used 18 MB of my allocation!

If you take into account that I am usually connected for between 6 and 10 hours per day, that adds up to close to 2 Gb a month!

No wonder I have had to top up this month!

When calling iBurst help ???? desk they could not help me...

Is there a free app that one can get to find out what application is using the internet and what site it is visiting? That way I could cut out any apps that I am not aware of on my PC - I have checked for viruses and for spyware and my system is clean... I did a search in google for HTTP apps but I must have been searching for the wrong thing as nothing came up...

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated...

By the way, the international bandwidth on Iburst sucks - I am lucky if I get 40 - 50 kbps on a download! A bog standard MP3 from a European site takes from 15 to 45 minutes to download at present.

Netmeter does exactly that. You can check which programs are using your bandwidth and it keeps count of your usage stats over any period. The program is available in a free version I think, but it would be limited.

There are also some freeware apps that will do the same. Bandwidth Meter or something similar.

By the way, my international bandwidth is usually pretty close to by local bandwidth, using a download manager if this helps..

Thanks - I'll go take a look at Netmeter on google...

By the way since last night I downloaded the free Zone Alarm to check on the outgoing internet traffic....

I turned off everything except my iBurst PCMCIA card.... Guess what, it is Iburst itself that is using approximately one third of my allocation every month!

I will leave my PC on during the week-end (whilst I am not using it) just to check exactly how much I am being overcharged by iBurst...
