If Telkom say that ADSL is suited for fast browsing and mail access then why is it that I'm having problems accessing my mail? I can surf no problem but smtp access is practically null and void! Ny1 else having the same problem?

I don't know if it's related to your problem, but has anyone else noticed that the peering between SAIX and the other local networks is *abominable* at the moment? A traceroute to www.sun.com is quicker than a traceroute to www.iol.co.za

*Shrug*

Yes, access to news24, itweb is horribly slow. This is unacceptable for the amount of money we are paying!

This is Telkom's "best effort" with no guarantee.

Our country cannot run on best effort with no guarantee -
imagine what would happen if water & lights, traffic, hospitals,
emergency services, etc. etc. operated on the best effort principle........

A scenario .....

Dear Mrs. "wife of Telkom executive",

We operated on your husband but he died due to an outage,
we gave it our "best effort", here's your bill for R1M -
we won't release him until full payment has been received & verified.

That is a very valid point microfast. It's time that Telkom takes responsibility for their substandard service and does something about it.
