Why is Steam and EA Origin been throttled?

I have a 40/20 Fiber connection

I am trying to update a game on EA origin and I am only getting about 450KB/s and it drops to as low as 250KB/s (thats around 2Mbps to 4Mbps)

And the same with steam

As you can see I am downloading from Cape Town region

But if I set my region to UK - London

I get 33Mbps which is almost full speed

You're going to have a lot of fun with Warframe, launcher will download another 5-10GB of updates min, and they use their own network for that.
I rarely get over 1MB/s with their one, usually update on one device and copy over to all if over 200MB (e.g. the recent 1.5GB patch).

I played back in the closed beta (think end 2012 or so? Was about a year before I got my then "new" R9 280X), but my GT440 was giving up life then so I quit, plus the x revives only per day. Friend hooked me back on end of last year, so went from MR3 to MR9 in like 3 months, now I play occasionally. Was quite shocking coming back to revamped Archwing (used to mess around flipping the world for friends when they left the PC and then shout go left when it's actually right, was fun trolling), and new combat.
 
Right first of all you are on the wrong ISP.

Secondly you are are paying R1617 for a 40/20 line.

I pay R1749 for a 200/100 line on Openserve. Let that sink in a bit.

You are over paying.

I showed this to our Noc Team and unfortunately, this doesn't really tell us a lot.

There is no time when this took place, you have an option ticket that shows that you can throttle downloads while you are streaming so there is a chance that somebody opened a Youtube video while you were downloading. The thing is there is no way we can trace back to the time this happened to see if there was anything weird happening on your account or the network.

Please send me a PM so we can arrange a live monitoring test with our Noc Team and we will get you to run the same tests so we can see what is happening on your connection at the time to see what is happening.

I`m with WebAfrica using 200/200 on Vuma. Pay R1559

While on OpenServe 100/50, ~R790 for Afrihost + 20GB, then added a Vox Fatpipe 300GB for R260 to it, so R1050. A 1TB cap is R880, will end up at R1670 if you use that much.
About the same price as the Afrihost one according to cavedog, plus roll over and free midnight.
It does max to 100/50 btw.

200/100 with Afrihost is R1107, personally don't think it's worth it for R350/50% more, but always an option. A 600GB cap would then match price with the 200/100 to the Afrihost one according to cavedog's price.

If you add a few bucks then you are looking at completely uncapped and unshaped with like gigago or cellc cfibre or even Vodacom fibre even though Vodacom fibre has a 2.2tb limit it's still a sizable quota compared to the capped deals.

So far the Supersonic 200Mbps desl for R1749 is unbeatable. Completely uncapped unshaped and unthrottled.

Would definitely avoid Vodacom Fiber based on comments on the forum, was just giving it as an option if data usage is less, no need to add R200/300pm if you can avoid paying more.

Totally. Also just throwing some numbers and deals around for comparison.

Vodacom fibre is total garbage but Vodacom fibre on Openserve might be an option because it's not badly priced and allows for 2.2tb data before slowing to 2Mbps but with Openserve you csn always use backup accounts which os nice.

Yeah, there was something today about them being very bad on an OpenServe line as well. I think Telkom did a form of uncapped for R1700 but 100/50.
Still think Vox with a very large cap is probably one of the best option.
Vodacom also only offers 100Mbps on OpenServe according to: https://www.vodacom.co.za/vodacom/services/internet/vodacom-fibre
