Sometimes, the variety of prices of the same Graphics card just makes me go WTF. Asus is normally expensive, so what is wrong with this graphics card that makes it so cheap?

R2,228, the market price for this is about R4 000

Also, WTF is this card been googling like crazy and whenever I click on a link that looks like it will tell me what it is, it takes me to Radeon 5970.

The 4870 is no longer the top end card, if you are looking at paying R4k for a card, the 5850 is a better deal, coming in at under 3k in some places. And so, they've had to reduce the prices of previous generation cards

The 4890 is in the same boat, old gen tech.

And here is a link on that card for you. http://www.amd.com/us/products/desk...d-4890/Pages/ati-radeon-hd-4890-overview.aspx

Please don't use all caps in thread titles, it is very irritating and makes you seem amateurish.

Some websites keep listing VERY old stock at their end-of-line prices.
You can still find R7000 8800Ultra's etc.
R22 for any 4870 is insanely expensive, ATi have launched their 5xxx series cards a long time ago, so this tech is considered very old.

almost 3 grand for a 4th gen ati? that sounds expensive imo - thats old tech man....

How can it be wrong when it feels so right.

Oh wait a sec... FAIL FAIL FAIL.
