Why is Vodacom more expensive???

iPhone 6s Plus 64GB

Vodacom's option gives you 120Min 300SMS 300MB is R800
MTN's option for R729 gives you 200min 300SMS 500MB

Will Vodacom drop their prices??

I am with MTN at the moment and want to change over to Voda but I dont know if its worth the extra cash?

Biggest they are the biggest player in SA. They have almost half of all the mobile subscribers in SA. So they can. Few people ever change networks, just too much of a hassle.

LOL no.

MTN and Vodacom networks are actually close to being on par. Just depends on the specific area you are in.

mmmmmm not really.

If you are out of contract porting into Vodacom at least should be a breeeze....unless the consultant messes it up somehow. I do think the other networks makes it a bit more of a hassle to port into their networks though. Telkom INSISTED that i change my number to prepaid first. With us, you can port from contract to contract or prepaid. And we will let you port out while you are on a contract and the contract will get a new number assigned to it automatically. Then up to you wether you want to keep that contract with the new number or convert to prepaid or delete completely.

I hear & see far more MTN complaints everywhere though (aside from price which seems to be Voda's number 1 issue with people and of course excluding Vodacom Direct and Cellucity).

Can't remember where I read it, but somewhere I saw that the number of people that actually port when the option becomes available in a country is minuscule.
 
Vodacom has generally been more expensive than other networks.

Network wise - as mentioned, depends on the area you're in.

Vodacom might be slightly better on support. But, again that would depend on area, and is issue specific.

Down here, I would rate the networks on overall satisfaction (personal experience and what my colleagues say) as:
1. Vodacom
2. Telkom Mobile
3. MTN
4. Cell C
 
Like any business not protected by the State: Because they believe they offer better overall value and can therefore extract more from you. As you know, a cellular service is made up of many components, and not all people value those equally. Thank goodness.

You pick what works for you.
 
They claim to be the best network for iPhone, and won the case.

I have absolutely useless signal at my place. Whenever I have an iPhone, it's worse...

Called to log a fault last week and I was told I have a pending one from 2014 so I escalated it again :D

Upgrades were apparently done at the beginning of the year but made no difference. They're now looking to add signal boosters to lamp posts.

Due to the above plans, they refuse to install a signal booster in the house (they've done it for a family member) but have no idea when the plans will be put into actions. All the consultant could say was that it won't be ready by November when I will be cancelling 3 contracts. A further 3 will be cancelled next year due to this too... Their signal has slipped drastically
 
Personally I've always felt VC delivered superior service. Not faster...but they never failed me in providing basic communication. MTN on the other hand pulled a string of "No service" and distorted calls on me. Fck that.

Really depends on what you need though - if you move around a lot then the above is of interest, but if work/home are both in zones covered well by cheaper services then go for that.

Ja wat. Sometimes one just has to accept that one's in a crappy reception area for that network. My MNO doesn't even have a service where I live, so I roam on their partner network.

Fourways is rather built up :D. The call dropped twice while reporting the fault and they had to leave a voicemail on the third time as I didn't have signal.

So it's not just that 3G is nonexistent and 4G isn't a whole lot better, it's useless EDGE and calls are dropping.

It's definitely become much worse over the past two years.
