Why Microsoft Word 2010 default language is US English?

Why does Microsoft Word 2010 default language to US English when already I've set the default language to UK/SA English (File/options/word options/language)? For each new doc i create i must manually change to UK/SA english. (US and UK spelling is different.)
Any suggestions?
 
Try set your default language in Location settings in your Windows Control Panel. Can't be assed to give a step-by-step so google should suffice :)
 
Regional/language settings in control panel is already English SA, always has been (i checked again tho'). This wasn't an issue with office word 2003, before i upgraded to 2010. Perhaps its an isolated peculiarity. Or Microsoft world hegemony. Like apple and google/android. all US companies.
I'd use Open office but it's a poor cousin to MS office. I'd hopes for OO 3.0's UI but is so pre-MS office 2003.
 
Just remember that the SA keyboard must be above the US keyboard for it to work properly.

On the bottom of the document (working with 2007, haven't tried 2010) there should be an 'English (South Africa/US)' soft button that opens up Languages when clicked. Have you tried changing the language there?

If you're still stuck then you may have to edit the normal.dat template.
 
2010s language set-up is similar to 2007s. The only two languages i've enabled for editing are UK/SA english - US isn't shown at all. I've done the exercise again to make sure, selecting SA as default, then opened a new document. As the doc opens, the ribbon at the bottom of word's screen shows 'English UK' for a second then reverts to 'English US'. I'll have to see if I've not overlooked something, and the normal template, thanks.
