Why MultiChoice is not planning full HD broadcasts for DStv

so a transponder can only handle 720p?

if not, no, i'm not suggesting to just buy up satellite capacity. that is one method i can think of but im no expert.

if i would have to suggest, they must break up their packages to pay per channel AND pay per month, at UHD HD SD LQ with the appropriate pricing. if they are affraid of too many single channel subscriptions, make a minumum of 5 or 3, one premium channel, one SABC channel and one random channel. what ever something of the sorts. and get online! for petes sake! poor pete.

i can guarantee, they will have returning customers.

they either dont know how or what they are doing, or its complacency and a monopolous attitude.

A transponder handles a specific amount of bandwidth ultimately... how the signal is compressed etc inside that is up to the provider and the technologies they have deployed.

As for your suggestions, to be honest, its partly a monopolous attitude yes, but also I would assume that a large portion of it is down to them understanding their business model and input costs considerably better than any of us.

for me, them understanding their business model isn't good enough, it just means they know how they currently make money. the point is they need to change it, technology changed.

MYBB, I get a message to stay on or leave the page, then it post messages twice, using Chrome.
“We also see very little demand from mainstream customers currently [for 1080p],” said MultiChoice.
Because they are now on Netflix... and the SA sport teams performance doesn't justify Premium anymore.
Oh, speak of the devil, late yesterday afternoon, another call from Multichoice agents as to why I disconnected and regarding reconnecting...lol

Interesting looks like Netflix had an impact after all
