It realy makes me wonder???? They give you a reference number, why do they not impliment a solution where a user can go online and check the status of an installation? This would free up the call center and in the long run save them money.
Here is my conspiracy theory: If a user can check themselves what is potting then the telskum call center opperator cannot use excuses like
1) It is still in the Port Assignment Project
2) There are no free ports
3) Your exchange is not enabled
and my personal favourite
4) I will escilate this for you.
Something else that concerns me is the fact that my local hellkom shop claims they dont have the systems to check on a DSL installation. All they can tell me is there was an order placed and the techie has checked to make sure i can get adsl.
Why is it that we have to beg a company to provide us with a service and charge us for it. Just imagine i walked into my bank and asked them for a savings account and they responded "we will assign you a free bank account number, please check back in 3 weeks" or i went to my local supermarket just to be told "We will assign you a cart/trolley, please come back in 4 weeks to do your shopping". The reason this does not happen, in the above cases i would say stuff you, good bye, i am going to your COMPERTITION.
