Hi anyone know if saix game servers can or do host the fshost software on a local server in South Africa.

I notice saix allows a whole lot of other games but nothing for the multiplayer Flightsim community in South Africa, we all have to make use of servers overseas, and eventually that doesn't work if one's international CAP is at its end...

FSHost is a small application that allows a server with a fixed IP to act as a multi player host, for on-line clients using Flight Simulator.

If there are enough people who will the server SGS normally hosts a server. But Games like flight simulators have small communities and low level of interest.

You'll be surprised how many South Africans use overseas servers for on-line flying, either offered for free by other providers in Europe or the US, I am pretty involved in this... and could never figure out why SAIX never gave this community the option to use a local SA server for Flight Simulator.

The recent caching happening over international connections hasn't helped either ...and causes latency as we all know.

Latency, no time outs...routing from SA to USA

what a joke...when one wants to connect via ADSL or Sat this is where telkom/saix times out on a trace route...

Looks like a server that handles a stack of VOIP traffic. The whole EU is probably talking to USA now...so again no connection to our gaming server at all because of this SAIX routing.

this just sucks.

staalbal, fixed IP hosting is ridiculously costly to host in SA. Looking at the usage of other game servers on SAIX I can't see why having one FSHost server should be such a big deal.

Sadly they are very slow at returning e-mails.

Well I'm happy to report that SGS have come to the rescue and set up a FSHost server for us....

Thanks guys, truly appreciated. :)

or you could have your south african community, to put some bucks together, and host your own server, for the year. if 50 of you guys have to put up 1000 rand for the whole year, thats 50 grand, and i am sure that will cover for the year if not more.....

just a thought though
