Why no TMO's in the SWC?

Why are there no TMO's (television match official's) in the Soccer World Cups? Surely that would make things more fair?

That way the ref can know if someone is faking an injury or if they used their hands or whatever?

TMO's are used successfully in rugby to make the game more fair so why not in an important event like the SWC?

Sounds like a load of carp as usual from FIFA trying to cover up for bad refereeing IMHO???

Soccer would be pathetic with TMOs, it'll slow the game down way too much. Human error is part of the game, that's how we love it!

There's a fine line between true human error and "biased" human error. It is this line that gets crossed often as a result of the bloody ref's having all the power to make decisions without any actual evidence.
As for the game, IMO, it'd speed the game up in a way because then the players would know they are being watched and they won't get away with rolling around facepalming themselves on the ground when they got touched in the ribs... There'd be less of that acting carp we see so much of!!

Biased human error? Really? Cricket and rugby have TMOs and yet the ref/ump gets blamed every week.

Simulation should have a citing panel which will give bans to those who do it.

Video replays in football can take a walk.

I dont like this idea and never have.......If the ref is bias, sure he can swing a match a bit, but ask any proper sportsman when he has calmed down, and bad ref's/decisions are how it goes...

No way dude - I read somewhere about instituting a two/three/four call limit that is decided by the captain of the team. Let's say that someone gets a goal that might have been offsides, the captain can contest the decision. Trust me - if you only have three calls then you would be stupid to use them to "break an opponents play" because it just would not be useful. the key is moderation. Too much would suffocate the game but justg enough can spice it up even more.

EDIT: I'm still against it though - what would we have to complain about if our teams lost? What would Alan do if he couldn't complain about how lucky Ferguson is being treated like a king by the refs... etc etc

I saw him not to long ago going on about not having technology in soccer. If we had technology things would have been different right now, for one France would not even be in the world cup.

I agree with the citing... I mean in england they have a dubious goal panel who sit and decide who gets credited with a goal. Cant be too hard to have an offical citing panel. I like that they reviewed Eduardos "dive" in the beginning of hte season and found that their was minimal contact and lifted his suspension... More of that would be good for soccer.

Contact is contact... The linesman missed the offside, and this happens. Seen championships and bigger games decided on it, but its football. Don't like, watch another sport

Not exactly true. The score would have been 1 - 1 on aggregate and the game was heading into a penalty shootout, thats the part people miss.

Lol, do these pansy-assed douches not realise that cameras are going to catch their every move, regardless of whether or not it has an effect on the outcome of the game? As has been demonstrated, the players' actions shall be forever carved in the stone that is Youtube amongst others so that the world can laugh for the rest of eternity. It actually really grinds me seeing grown men act like this.

I can understand PK's point in that it would break the flow of play but surely something needs to be done about this? I don't watch the game normally so I'm really no expert but it's just shocking.

I think TMO's should be implemented cos it would eliminate all the acting going on. I swear some teams deserve Oscars and not a WC trophy, and if players know their being watched then they'd play with integrity.
