Why not a Kodak Inverter

Is this the same thing?, It also says hybrid?

I currently have Mercer/Apert 5kv inverter, But as mentioned it cannot put power back into the grid. So llokign at a replacment. But a +-25k price tag....:-(

That's a smaller 5k unit, PFS also has it for even cheaper:

And yes it also runs the meter backwards, have seen it with my own two eyes. Whether it does so safely or not, I dunno.

Sorry im a real noob with these kind of stuff. So the diffrence in these 2 are that the one you posted has 8000w solar input whereby the other one I send only has a 3200w Solar input?
But the output on the 2 is the same, basically 5000w ?
So If I have batteries (Have 2x 2.4 lithium batteries), My output will remain +- 5000w ?

I am hardly an expert on the Luxpower range, but yes, I would imagine so, dependent on your batteries' discharge rate limitations. The two MPPTs do 3200W each, so 6400W in total. Best give powerforumstore a call.

Will definitely give them a call, Thanks. Waiting for my Bonus first. But it cost about the same as my Apext (Mercer) king. So I can try swinging my Axpert for 7 ~8k, this will only cost me 4k with the added benefit of this being a true hybrid.
At this stage I only have 9x 330W panels ( its about 3000W) with the 2x 2.4 Lithium batteries. So this should work perfectly in my opinion
 
Yes that is the new feature of the Voltronic inverters, but its pegged to the battery voltage.

Voltronic inverters will do the job if you not looking for all that additional features, Spinny backwards meters but the Infini Inverters are able too. With that new feature it does bump it up a bit being able to power non essential items.

If you looking to install an inverter and forget about it then sure it would work but if you planning to upgrade the system in stages like add another inverter to parallel the system, forget it. Voltronic inverters do get refreshed quite often so it will be difficult to get the exact one or you will be mixing brands. But the Kodak branded options they seem to keep their models for quite some time before being refreshed.
Why? Even the most basic Voltronic type do support parallel connection, this one doesn't?

As far as I know the VM3 inverters dont have the parallel function, Did have a bunch of customers a while time ago looking to expand there systems, Another inverter and panels but The version or model they had was no longer available so no upgrade, ended up selling the old inverter and purchasing a larger system.

Okay, I was talking about the OH 7.2 in the OP.
 
The build quality of the 2 are worlds apart. In the Sunsynk the magnetics are potted and mounted on the heatsink - on the kodak they are just on the PCB.
The Sunsynk is also IP65 rated - the enclosure is sealed if installed correctly.
The ability to power non-essentials is just about worth the price difference on it's own, and likewise the build quality.

There is nothing wrong with the Kodak and it's great given the price, but these are not quite comparable devices.

non-essential loads is things like geysers,stoves,swimming pool pump, ect, things that arent usually connected to an inverter system because of their massive power draw

the inverter's ability to power non-essential load will happen when the batteries are fully charged and your system is basically doing nothing, then it will take all the available solar to potentially power those non-essential loads where needed

If there is excess solar that isn't plugged into your essentials, it will power the things like geyser, stove etc...

afaik, when the grid is down, non-essential doesn't work either so people just end up putting everything on essential anyway.

Ja, a lot of people are doing just that in the past few weeks, for some strange reason :unsure:

But the Sunsynk's Aux port can also be used for these (if it's not used for a genny), that's they call a Smart load, which stays up even if grid isn't there.

So in that case when Eskom is down the inverter tries to pull that extra current for non-essentials from the batteries (and PV) because it doesn't know any better? Yikes....that's concerning for night time usage.

Looking at the specs I don't see how a Sunsynk / Luxpower is any better. BEsides for the nice display and Wifi connectivity. But feature wise it seems the same. What I don't get is it says in that description the inverter is supposed to be able to feed back into the grid. Now how this works I don't know as mine does not feed anything back.

On a 7.2OG with no issues... On the other hand, A Friend Blew up his Deye within 5 minutes of powering it the first time. Took them 3 week to rebuild it. (Factory Fault)...
