Hay guys, simple question as above. What's the purpose on owning a Tablet?.
I don't quite get it. Would it be suitable, carrying it around with you, seeing that they are quite large, wouldn't really fit in your pocket.
I'm not to sure if i NEED one, i have ADSL , A BLACKBERRY, so would i really need such a device?
What do you think?
thanx....

The things you can't/ don't want to do on your phone but are too much trouble to do on your pc/laptop. Eg browsing the web, reading etc

basically its some where between your phone and your PC / Laptop. its as mobile as you phone, but has a large screen like a laptop.
Oh and you can play angry birds with big screen, now if that's not an awesome feature then i don't know what is :D

i lie in bed every night, reading flipboard (ipad), pulse (android/ipad) and a few websites... or watch a video or two... then when i go to sleep, i pop it in its cradle and it becomes my alarm clock, or if i want to fall asleep to some music it does that as well. basically a bedroom instrument for me.

cheesy i know but just being able to do that is worth it. :D

I pretty much see mine as that as well when I am not on the road. Great for use when in bed and checking mail/web or in my case read Magazines(Zinio) or books.

That.

Currently lying in front of the tv, replying to work mails, chatting to wife, reading latest T3 magazine, checking rss feeds...and surfing on MyBB. Entertained my daughter with a few puzzle apps earlier. :-) My home PC is gathering dust between the ipad/iphone, mostly only use it for photo editing/management and downloads nowadays. Not to mention my netbook, she is seriously pissed at me... :-)

Lol!! well thanx guys on the replies, heehee, seems that would be the usage for... so currently...what would be good/best @ this point in time, here in south africa....i see The HTC flyer had a leak of Honeycome...would that be a good choice in the mean time?

Mybb has a great app. Play games or watch movies when you hit the long road. Browse the net, check sports scores and dstv drifta is available for apple as well as samsung android devices!

Well it's pretty much between ipad and some android version. Ipad is huge, by far the bigger player atm and the most apps. Android is catching up though, and there are many to choose from - Elimentals is someone who can advise on which android tablets to look at. Bear in mind where you might end phone-wise (you will eventually ditch the bb :-)) I think it makes sense to pair your phone and tablet, so if you are inclined to try an android phone in the foreseeable future, I'd say go for an android tablet, same goes for apple.

instead of taking a big ol newspaper to the toilet, these days i take my trusty tablet and read a comic while listening to music or radio streaming, or watch some youtube.

Afrikaans joke - loses impact if in English.

"Boetie ! Het jy weer n boek saam met jou?"

"Nee Pa, ek kak uit my kop uit" .......:D

Tablets: Consumption device. Can be used productively but better for reading/watching/listening. If public transport ever became an option for me, a tablet will be a must. (Depending if it's world standard or 3rd wold standard transport)

Oh my word!!

Do you remember to fill up your hot water bag when you go to bed?

Because simply, you can lie in bed with basically a computer in your hands like a book.. and do whatever you want.
