Why people lie about their qualifications

Qualification fraud in South Africa has increased by as much as 200% from 2009 to 2014, according to new data.

Funny thing is I have met people who have forged their qualifications or cheated in the exams from all races. But to make ourselves feel good, let's just say it's certain people only.

I did say mostly, yes you will see this with everybody but as a percentage relating to demographics you will find it higher in certain demographics than others. Nobody is gonna posts stats on this though for obvious reasons.

How do people not pick it up though, sat in a few interviews last year for the company I worked for and we picked it up so easily.
Then verbally wrecked the people with questions they couldn't answer and told them not to talk crap on CVs. Fun times.

Funny thing is we had people lie about their hobbies on their CV.......still trying to work out why.
Wrote stuff in CV like read sci-fi books, when asked to list some they couldn't give a single example hahahaha

Because the people involved in the selection process are just as far out of their depth as the cancerdate. I mean candidate.

Or just outright corrupt in the case of Prasa, sabc, eskom, etc.
