Applied for client for ADSL line. Telkom came back and said no ports available. Normal scenario - new DSLAM is installed at exchange and ADSL can be installed again.

Latest story. Umhh sorry sir but we have not budgeted for it can only schedule it for new financial year 1 April 2005.

For a company that made 3.5 Billion Rand Profit last year. No wonder they are giving such poor service and expensive products.

It should be (at least) legal to make your own plans if service is not delivered by Telcrap. [:D]

### What we need in South Africa is cheap 24/7, always on Internet for under R300 a month. ###

4.5 Billion [:)] Probably more this year as they announced 2.6 Billion for the past 6 months.

TELKOM!

I applied on the 15th October for my residential line to be moved from 1 December (as I was moving home - to a different part of Randburg) .
I ALSO applied for ADSL.
Today I phoned to check on the status of things, only to be told - no ADSL because "no port" - and what's more - NO residential line either because someone scr-d up and according to them I ONLY applied for ADSL!
So now I've had to make a new application for a normal line - who knows when I'll actually get it, and I've been told that when I get the line, to then re-apply for ADSL.
Any suggestions? I don't suppose Sentech has gotten any better, has it? Or that IBurst have dropped their prices???
All I really want is to be connected all the time, (surfing and email) I don't need huge volumes....
Any input appreciated!
Di

Stewing over bad service - roll on any alternatives!
