Parties sort of switched ideologies a while back.

Also a Republican cause the great depression, the 73 recession and 2008 recession.

A Democrat ended the great depression, signed through the Civil Rights Act, put a man on the moon, brought peace between Egypt and Israel and took America through its greatest period of economic growth while getting some action in the oval office.

Also Nixon was a Republican.

When I think of great American presidents I think FDR, JFK, Clinton and the only Republican who makes the list is Reagan. And I am not sure whether he was a great president, or had good advisors and got extremely lucky to be paired with a doois of a Soviet leader.

Well, Christians voted for a Mormon as well as a person that is perceived by many to pretend to be a Christian so I don't think a Catholic candidate will not be a problem. Besides, JFK wasn't too bad and he was Catholic.
