Why the HUGE discount

There is a lot of fibre in this country. We just need Escom/Transtel to be allowed to come into the playing field. ADSL has been tried and tested all over the world to come out totally unsuccesful. Sitting reading through these forums this evening and putting my comments where I thought it was necessary I came to one conclusion. We have now ADSL, VSAT, WIRELESS... what do u think is going to happen to our current ISP connection with Diginet lines? PRICE WAR. I think we will end up getting reduced rates here.... So dont give up hope guys. Competition has just started. One word of advice. Watch out for the contracts you have to sign. As price decreases and more solutions are available, give urself the opportunity to have the option to choose instead of being stuck in old technology. Just my two cents worth. I still say the best solution available is diginet up and satellite down for businesses if your priority is speed and quality.

I believe that we as users should demand a SLA with the product(s) covering 4 key metrics. That way one can truly compare access products and service provider performance.

The metrics are:
1. Uptime gaurantee - as a % per annum
2. Throughput gaurantee in Kbps to peering points (both local & international)
3. Latency gaurantee in ms to peering points (both local & international)
4. Support policy wrt time taken to resolve logged faults & refund policy if service provider fails on any metric.

Bear in mind as well that ADSL won't work over fibre-optic cable; however, VDSL does (up to 52 Mps download speed). Perhaps we should register myvdsl.co.za for the future *g*
