Ke ?

I'm on AYCE 10GB and ... nope ... my dynamic dns updater tool is showing a new ip address daily, and like 12 times on the 12th Feb.

Are you sure the computer you're running ipconfig /all on is the one that does the dialup/ppoe connection, or does your adsl router/modem do that for you, which would mean that your router whould know what your outside ip address is.

Try http://www.myipaddress.com/ for a resolution as to your outside ip address, and give us some more details of your setup mkay :).

I'm on Cybersmart, my i'p has changed only 3 times.

Anyways i run a ssh server with tcp tunnel for a friend to unlag his university access for muding(cygwin + open ssh + tcp wrappers* + a dynamic update dns proggy).

So i had problems till recently too like people trying their best to hack me, heck i think its a automated attack. Anyways incase you wanna know how to block em, install the tcp wrappers of cygwin and then 2 files will appear in the /etc/ folder hosts.deny & hosts.allow.

In hosts.deny a line like
sshd: ALL
This means block all ips or just add ip ranges as they attack, but this is useful since hosts.allow allow connections with specified domain/ip reguardless of deny list.. ie you make a hole for certain ip/domain.
So i have something like this in my one
sshd: some_id.uwc.ac.za some_id.uct.ac.za localhost 192.168.1.3 //my other pc

etc just figured id post here since in december last yr i was having this problem and someone said they had similar probs. there are otherways to make a blocklist etc but this is the easiest if you know the domain/ip you want to allow access to.

finally, i find out the ip address was changed last night... the torrent even up to 50k for six file open totally...

You could try disconnecting it for a while(5min?) and then replug it back in , resynch and check your ip, i notice for short reconnects typically session timeouts it retains the ip but when it drops for longer than 45 sec the ip changes

This works for me!!! I often find that I will have the same IP addy for a few days at a time...

But then again, I use DynamicDNS (razorsa.homeip.net) and so I can login to my pc from anywhere, anytime ...
