why the masses continue to vote for the ANC

This thing of people continually voting for the ANC obviously has got some people baffled but if you looked closely you might notice that it is nothing new and it is partly informed by human nature,If something is good to you now, most of us will find ways to justify it even if it might not be good for next person.

As much as ANC is corrupt it has been good to some people, firstly the ANC brought freedom and democracy, I cannot emphasize enough how priceless that is to a human being, I know that if you were not oppressed before you might not be able to appreciate this.
It does not mean that the people who continue to vote for the ANC approves of the corruption, they are equally concerned but they don’t believe that the ANC is bad , the positives still outweighs the negatives, poor people are mostly grateful for the little things, the monthly grant, the food parcels, the RDP house etc.

Before democracy the national party used to govern the country, now you might ask yourself why did people who had a chance to vote that time voted for the NP? It’s not that people were not concerned about the atrocities that the NP government were undertaking, but they continued voting for them, surely those people were not stupid, not heartless and evil to enjoy their comforts while the majority of people suffered, they voted for it because it catered for them at the time and most of them thought it was not up to them to change the status quo, after all it was good to them, the same way the ANC is good to the majority today.

The support of the ANC is shrinking every election time and we can all rest assured that it will suffer the same fate as the NP but as long as there is inequality in our society the demise of the ANC is not something that is going to happen in the next election or even the one after that.

The least we liberated people who has access to resources can do is to educate the masses, fight inequality so that when the ANC finally decide to change its ways or suffer the same fate as the apartheid government at least we still has a country and a functioning democracy left for our future generations.

Have you ever considered that the ANC will not give up it's position so easily?
 
The ANC brand is strong, probably the most popular brand by decision, it has meaning to a select supporter base. There is a good reason why a party like Cope did not pan out to be a success story, it has some elements in line with those within the ANC which wants Zuma out not starting their own political party.
 
The ANC did not bring freedom and democracy

The ANC was ONE of the organisations that brought freedom and democracy. They just had a better marketing department.

The ANC won't disappear from SA politics for a very long time. The most we can hope for is they get a thrashing in the metro areas enough to get them to cut out the cANCer from their party.

it's an obvious reality for any political party to defend its base, but if they don't change their ways it's obvious where they are headed, but if they do correct their mistakes then the masses will find credence to their loyalty

Now that his excellency has gone all religious on us claiming to be our shepherd it would be apt to point out the ANC is destroying that most precious of things they apparently gave us.

The ANC giveth and the ANC taketh away ...

Love your enthusiasm. Unfortunately Africa is riddled with examples of liberated people not ever able to get rid of their dictators-for-life of their own choosing. Look at Zim, much better educated than our lot & they still let Mugabe kill their hopes of a future without too much of a peep. The only difference really is there'll be no industrialized and developed neigbour our masses can flee to for jobs & security once the ANC has gone completely rogue. Sad fact, but that seems to be what people want..

you see it's not what the people want, remember what I said about poor people being grateful for the little, e.g( if the rand would gain strength against the dollar but you still don't have food,water/ electricity and housing, the strengthening economy won't have any direct implications in your life. if you are poor you tend to prioritise what will happen today and the next day, not what will happen in the future.

You don't need to be educated or well-off to see things are not getting better. Today or the next day. And you don't have to be a genius to figure out that politicians are lying scum.

So if you are poor, and prioritise what will happen today or the next day, come election time you should - just like everybody else - add your voice to change. Even more so than anybody else.

No, it is but an excuse to cover the main weakness of Africa. Vote for the chief, the strong man, complain when he rapes you, then vote for him again. If he falls, vote for the next man of the same ilk.

It is a cultural thing, not an economic thing. Something which the ANC understands very well. Which explains their disinterest in economic advancement. It is not what sways African voters, by and large.
 
They're also experts at intimidation. From Nelson and Winnie Mandela - with our mathces and necklaces we will liberate this country. If you didn't support the cANCer you would be killed. Nothing's changed.

Firstly .... I am not liberated. BBEE and AA has seen to that. In fact, I have become a prisoner since 1994, because the effort to fight crime has become so lax.

Secondly .... the masses are REALLY dumb. They listen to Zumas flocking sheppard BS and his anti white for land BS .... and never stop to THINK .... how much am I better off 21 years into democracy. So I am free .... but starving...

Thirdly .... the ANC just loves the liberation bull. They reinvent the struggle every few years or so. Its their little marketing strategy. They cant change.

And the revolution may never come in SA because we all want something different. The EFF wants Zuma out and to fek up the economy.
The ANC wants all the wealth and to fek up the economy. The SACP doesnt know what it wants, as long as whites (except Cronin) dont have it.
Rural blacks want the ANC to build them cities. Rural whites want to farm without being killed. Odly enough urban whites want what the EFF want .... Zuma to fek off.

Meanwhile the only thing that can create wealth and 'economic freedom' is growing the economy. Kinda pathetic that the ANC is ****ing that up.
