Can someone plz tell me why we in SA are so far behind in technology compared to USA,UK,JAPAN,CHINA,etc.

yeah i think so too.this country is messed up,you see on da news evryday ppl in government run away with millions and dont even go to jail for that long.some hectic ****e going on.we need ppl lyk richard branson,bill gates,ect in SA thats spends millions or even billions to improve technology.maybe in the next century or so!

The no. 1 reason is because of the minister of communications and the people who control this sector. Incompetence or they just don't care.
Terrible thing that the minister of communications don't even know what cell phone costs are as she stated recently.

SA has been doing doing dat since the apartheid ended.i think this country went from bad to worse.i think we wud`ve been better off if were still in apartheid years.

Far from it. The telecoms regulation we sit with is a direct result of aparheid, and nothing good would or ever will have come of it. It's just very strange that this regulation is still upheld (visa-vi SATRA acts and so forth have not yeilded any communications liberation) - the reasons for this are quite simply, money. Telkom is a cash cow, and the government have a front row seat.

And even if the cash cow die we just blame it on apartheid instead of thinking ahead on how we can fix a problem we just shout apartheid and the EU gives us another 60 milion and we have a big party that costs 50m and again money troubles we blame it on apartheid thats the way it will always be. Look at america the non whites still blame the whites for being treated like slaves.
