Why was there no Solstice thread?

The solstice is today. It started this morning at 01:08 (in Cape Town)

OK, I get it, the winter solstice lasts only a moment in time, and was this morning at 01:08. Today is midwinter, the shortest day.

Edit: Ok, I'm wrong - the shortest day of the year was Tuesday, June 19, 2012 7:05am to 4:58pm (593 minutes)

We don't have day light savings, so we are always GMT + 2. GMT never changes.

Try telling that to my samsung phone.it changes with dailight savings time :/ 'why where you late for the exam!?

my cellphone changed the time because of dailight savings time and...

Dont give me that bull!we dont use dst in SA!'
