Why was vodacom internet down?

Like the heading says. Why was vodacom internet down for so long?? Did some1 hack into their system?

What does Vodata say, nobody at the "help centres" could give an answer than it a technical problem. REALLY wouldn't have guessed!!

It does go down from time to time. I often ask why but they never seem to want to discuss it. The answer is usually "please turn your phone on and off".

Many things can cause it I guess. A BTS that goes down due to bird poop accumilating on the transmitters (localized issue). A Telkom cable break like we saw a few months ago in Midrand that caused a very large part of Gauteng to go down (regional issue) to a system failure within Vodacom (can cause either local, regional or national issues)

Complex systems like what Vodacom has have many places where things can go wrong. Not to mention the systems where your network traffic leaves the Vodacom network and gets handed over to Telkom, SAT/SAFE networks. If something goes wrong there then of course Vodacom would be affected also.
