Why would a woman do this

Ok, so there is this one girl [not my GF] who constantly rants about her friend [who is also another girl] to me and yet when they are together, they seem somewhat happy. The girl she is ranting about is actually very sweet, and would never begin to think to rant about her friend like that. I almost want to tell the other girl, but it would create too many issues.

I just don't understand this bizarre behaviour :wtf:. I put it down to a combination of jealousy and insecurity, but I would like to hear your thoughts on the matter.

Jealousy, simple as that. She wants someone to agree with her and make her feel better.

Women..

Womens power comes from manipulation. If you don't understand their behaviour chances are they're trying to manipulate you.

Indeed. I actually stayed away from the other woman for a long time because the other girl was making her out to be such a bad person. But when I actually had the chance to talk her alone, she is actually a very nice person.

Then again, I should have used my common sense earlier...especially when the ranter admits she herself can be very bitchy.

LOL @ MickeyD...+100 internets! :D

This trait is very common in many groups of female apes.

Yesterday, Female friend B 'broke up' with female friend A. They have been best friends for 5 years. Friend A always goes out of her way to do anything and everything for B to make her happy. Including cleaning B's room when she visits because B is too bone-idle to do it herself, suprise parties, collecting dozens of glass jars for B's upcoming wedding. B's mom flew to South Africa for a surprise visit, so A took leave, went to fetch her, arranged a surprise reunion party, then drove 350km to deliver her B's house, spent a week there, drove another 350km to deliver mom back to the airport. So basically, they are inseparable friends.

'A' voices her opinion on the marriage to B's mother. This is a truth which neither B nor the mother want to hear. Now, neither B nor her mother will reply to emails or SMSs, A is totally alienated, and yesterday A gets an SMS from B to say what a bad friend she is and how she ALWAYS treats B's family and fiancé badly. B 'breaks up' with A. 'B' spends the whole night sobbing uncontrollably and now blames herself for the break up.

I am no expert on women, but the total lack of logic completely baffles me. Why would a woman do this to her best friend, or any other person for that matter?

Difference between men and women
If she doesn't want to have the sex it's because she's got a headache
If you don't want to have the sex, it's because you don't love her anymore

/no comments on my situation please, I see you :D

She wants attention and for you to tell her how awesome she is.

Replying to the original OP, just bear in mind that how the friend interacts with you and how she interacts towards others may not even be remotely the same.

Mebbe but, the girl who bad mouths her friend is a bitch regardless.

There is no way to understand how a woman's mind functions. Just accept it and move on.

Perhaps. Although I'm 99% sure she bitches to her other friends about me. I'm not naive enough to think that she only bitches about her.

After all, she quite happily admits she is a bitch but then says "most girls are like that." Yeah right, pull the other one . Not all girls thrive on talking behind friend's backs...

Well, 99% of them do. In fact, most people thrive on talking about other people behind their backs. Some more than others....
