Why would my screen sometimes not be waking up?

I have this weird issue where my screen will go into standby mode and won't wake up again when I move the mouse etc, not all the time, just every few days it seems to happen. The only way to get it to wake up if to unplug the DP cable and plug it back in and then it wakes up instantly.
It's an Nvidia 1070TI card with a Dell P2422H monitor via a DisplayPort cable, Win 11 pro, all the latest drivers and updates installed.

o/t but I've found it much better to disable the mouse as a device that can wake the pc so that only keyboard can. Found it waking up too often from accidental bump of the desk or something else causing the mouse to trigger.

If you dont move the mouse at all, but plug that cable out/in, does it also wake up .... cause I actually think it shouldn't.

EDIT: referring to the system here, not only the screen
Is the system not waking up but not giving display ... eg monitor or cable problem ? or are you sure the system stays dead?

The system is waking up as expected but the screen isn't.

Has this been an issue since day 1?
Reason for asking is my dad also has a Dell monitor on Hdmi to W10 PC .... he never sleeps his PC as it's usually a problem to get the monitor to respond with a wake-up. - weird
No it only started happening recently
