Why you should consider converting to externally managed IT services

Nice little advert for Digicape there...

Personally "managed IT services" only really works for really really small companies.. the minute you breach say 30 users, you need inhouse IT.

**EDIT** Also, my experience of managed IT services is usually monumentally piss poor levels of service for exorbitant fees.

I agree, outsourced IT comes with a whole bunch of new challenges. I know plenty companies that jumped on the outsourced IT bandwagon when it became more common. Most of those companies have now either started converting back to internal IT management services. I have worked for companies that provide outsourced technicians, and one thing that is for sure, there are much less issues doing it internally.

Yup... worked for 2 companies that did the outsourced IT stuff (servers and desktops etc) and one that used outsourced Devs... both were a cockup more often than not.

Outsourced is great as extra hands and backup for internal IT :-)
