Why............

Was wondering when this would pitch up here.

Prepare for apathy at best.

No danger and lack of understanding by the authorities .
I think if he registers himself as a traditional healer he may be ok .

This. Probably got a tip. Finding murderers and rapists will mean someone needs to get up off there fat arse.

The cops are doing their job, the solution is those with concern or interest getting off their arses and doing something about the law, keyboard warriors don't do much and blaming someone for doing what is in their job description does nothing.

If keyboard warriors start doing something about it then they can get into trouble with the law and the criminals as well.
It is not the keyboard warriors job to do the SAPS job, that's what our tax is for.
/I have often fantasized about walking these streets with a sword.

To be fair, this is part of their job. Don't blame the cops for stone-age legislation and an uninformed and conservative society.

If a person always chooses the easiest part of his job, spends all of his time on it, and ignores the more difficult tasks and aspects of his job...
is he actually doing his job?

Also, to be fair, it doesn't look the cops are pushing the point that hard anyway. They didn't arrest him when he presented himself at the cop shop.

Generalisations are not very helpful, I don't think, and in the context of this particular issue, lazy policemen are not the thing we should be concentrating on.

True, and goes to show that the notion that the cops are just snuffling for the easy busts is not necessarily true.

I don't know how you can make that claim, do you have any figures of the conviction rates for the "difficult" crimes?
Aren't our prisons beyond capacity? If so it stands to reason that unless you think they are full with all the easy targets, the police are doing their jobs, the easy and the difficult.

When any of you, are G-d forbid, in a situation when you will try anything to try and stay alive, then let's talk!
Who cares if the cops are doing their jobs or not or if they are lazy or not, leave the people, who are trying to help others, alone.
I don't put my life in danger, when taking the oil, and nor does it affect anyone else's life.
Rather let the murderers and rapists walk the streets!
And, no, they didn't arrest him, but, I can guarantee, they won't leave him alone!

Did you even read the article you linked to? The guy in question knows it is not the police at fault, but the government making the laws. Or would you prefer police who selectively apply the law?

This story is about hundreds of people who die every day while the government drags its feet on legalization of Marijuana.

edit: continued:

Hats off to the investigating officer, this is one of those very rare occassions where I have experienced absolute proffessionalism and understanding from the Police, but indicate that it is a matter for the courts to decide. I found him to be an absolute human being during our interview, listening to what we have to say, even sympathising with us at times. I salute this policeman, we need more like him chasing dangerous drug dealers & criminals.

Ya, the cops are such a bunch of #$%&

Yes, I did!
All I am trying to say is.......leave these people alone, there are more pressing things to deal with!
