Hi guys, I battle to get Wi-Fi spread throughout my single story Townhouse. Has anyone got some advice?

Cheers JB

Get a good ADSL Router like a TP-Link or Tenda.

Powerline adapter with wifi clone option. like this one

I concur.

I have this and it is working just great.

Other wireless extenders repeat the existing wi-fi network, which means a drop in speed, because the signal must be - as the name says - repeated before it reaches the main router that connects to the fixed line WAN.

You can also use WDS. You can get two routers to talk to each other and spread your signal wider. I believe this may lower your bandwidth available but it should increase the coverage, which will result in better speed.

I am going to try this tonight. I have a good quality router (Linksys X3500), but my phone struggles when I use it from my bedroom. The signal from my router has to go through a floor and a wall. Interestingly, my laptop works fine from my bedroom. Anyway, I'm going to try WDS to see if it can result in better coverage.

If only more people understood that and didn't just assume a repeater would just fix any problem/

WDS will have the same issue as a repeater though

Only as a last resort, the signal degradation and packet loss are terrible.

As I said in my post - "I believe this may lower your bandwidth available"

Yes, it's the packet loss that really slows down the network, not the loss of bandwidth.

Yeah, I've got a Huawei, more than enough coverage. No need for other toys. Probably also depending on where the router is located.
You shouldn't be having coverage issues with a Huawei. Try changing the channel to one at the end of the list and changing network standards to b/g.

You shouldn't need a repeater for any single story townhouse. Just buy a better AP. Asus, Ubiquity ect.

Correct, my router can go up to channel 13, which some mobile devices don't support. Channels should also not really make much of a difference.

Just a proper DSL modem.
