I am aware that single band extenders halve the speed of the re-transmitted signal. What I cannot figure, is that an extender that says it is capable of 300mb/sec makes such a difference on a much slower internet signal
Close to the router I can download at 3.5mb/sec
The extender is situated where the signal has dropped to about 60%
In another room, if I connect to the extender, the download speed offered is 1.0mb/sec
This router and extender operate at 2.4GHz
However, the router is capable of both 2.4GHz and 5GHz. I see that dual band extenders are available
Do you know if such an extender will receive a signal on 2.4GHz and re-transmit it at 5GHz? If there are specific models that do this, please let me know which ones they are
Thanks
