Hi daWolf,
Yes it should help. I'm running the TP-link WA850RE (300mbps version) extender for my bedroom end of the house and it works well.

Hey, im running kind of the same set up as him, just mine is connected from my Netgear router to the TP Link (Exact model you planning on getting) via Ethernet cable, and the range is awesome! My only problem is configuring the actual TP Link Range extender, like the changing the SSID and securing it, because currently the standard setup is Open.

Thanks for the headsup. I've picked up the range extender a few mins ago from Uniterm Direct. Will get it configured when I'm home later. Will let you know how I get on.

Hi guys,

I friend of mine gave me his TP-Link TL-WA730RE Range Extender. He had some spare PC stuff which he has not used.

So, I think that I have set it up correctly. Did the ping thing wireless with success.
The Tp Link I have did not have the WPS button, nor does the 2750U. So I couldn't go that route. I went into the maintenance screens to set it up as I was having issues using the autorun program that cam with the disk.

So, now I need to move the Range Extender to suitable location. How can I check this or suggestions? Also, how will I know if my devices is connected via the Range Extender or main router?

Help? I realy would like to avoid calling an IT specialist if it something stupid.

Hey dude,

I've got that same range extender, and having crazy issues setting it up, specifically with regards to the Changing of the SSID, and matching it to my current Wifi on my Netgear DGN, and also, i cannot get it secured, right now there is no encryption, but i cannot get to manage the extender, how did you manage the actual device?

I found the TP-link HAD to be wired to the current router/modem when setting it up initally. Once saved though, I unplugged and moved to the desired location and powered up, no issues after it connected to my existing wifi router.
If you have an Android phone, try inSSIDer or Wifi Analysed to check the AP, SSID broadcast as well as seamless connection when moving between the APs

Okay, so got home yesterday and configured it within a few mins. Working 100%. I am able to stream content from my HTPC to my phones/tablets and room tv without any issues (accept 1080p) using XBMC and Plex. Wifi range is more than enough as well. I attempted to stream 1080p content just for kicks and I noticed buffering every few seconds. I just need to decrease the stream quality settings on Plex in order to play those files. 720p content and below streams without any issues. Btw, I bought the TP-link WA850RE.
