Wi-Fi thief

My wife keeps stealing my Wi-fi, whenever she does her zoom meetings which includes using dropbox to send and receive large files, it seems tells every other device in the home to get rekt, I have no internet access on my phone on either 2.4 or 5Ghz band, my CCTV dies and wont reconnect until she is done talking k@k or sending and receiving files.

Yes I know my Cctv should be wired, it's a bit tricky to do due to it's position, I have even resorted to moving the router to a few different positions to see if it helps, nope! Should I just put a limit on this woman's device or is something else going on here?

Router is the Xiaomi AC3200.

Line is 200/200.

Use OpenWRT.

I have a similar problem. My inlaws are here and they are hogging the Internet as they have nothing else to do.

Anyone have a spare room for me for the next 3 weeks?

How much internet do you use?

The specs on that router show its OS is based on OpenWRT so you should have the ability to create smart queues of some sort (QoS)

Not much. 100-200GB a month.
Wow. I miss those days. My 50mbps line has used 3.5tb data this month. Usage has been creeping up over time. A year ago we were doing just under 1tb.

I have tenants and I don't monitor the network but I know the woman is permanently streaming on YouTube (I once, as a joke, Chromecasted pornhub to her TV... Was a laugh on her reaction on what suddenly appeared on her screen) her son plays fps online through most of the night and day on weekends and also downloads stuff to watch.

My wife's usage is on her mobile games and streaming Disney plus. My usage is the probable clincher. With my facination of old movies and TV shows I am constantly downloading.

All and all we max the line out on a semi permanent basis with no one interfering with anybody else. No special settings on the router or port forwarding. Just factory and ISP credentials.

We use 3 Huawei Link+ routers in a mesh configuration. That is 2x Huawei AX3 wifi 6 routers and a Huawei 5200 basic router. We have a large house which is long. The routers are set up in a relatively straight line.
The 5200 is in the lounge.
The primary AX3 is in my home office
The other AX3 is on the other side of the house, in the bedroom next to the main bedroom.

What I am getting at is that your network set up must be right for your environment and what you want to achieve. If you do not have a good network plan you will struggle with the most basic things. I see this with our clienta every day.

I know it can be flashed to openwrt with a bit of effort to use SQM which has CAKE.
But from the web I cannot see the stock firmware has that

There was a config video that showed the mobile app and there was a QOS option there. The specs on TA also mention the OpenWRT base

probably save a bit of cash by understanding the problem first.
All networking problems comes from bandwidth and throughput. My line is very low bandwidth so I need to make sure my throughput is clean and fast. One way of doing it is to dedicate bandwidth to each device. My thinking is data can freely travel at a constant speed. Also the new router came with better security options. But load balancing is just a joy to have when playing a game. My wife, 3 kids and I all play at the same time and I am on entry level fibre package. I don't know if it will work in this situation but many friends and family are blown away by how much we can do with our connection.

I used Task Manager on the performance tab and was able to see what the games demand was during game play and allocated bandwidth to each device based on that. It is not a silver bullet but I can't complain.

I see that on the disti page:

But the process to upgrade to stock openwrt is cr@p: https://openwrt.org/toh/xiaomi/ax3200

The Cudy AX3000 is the best. Can upgrade to openwrt faster than a tart takes off her knickers.

Yeah that process looks insane, probably not worth it for a standard requirement user
The patcher they list there you can get on Github makes it so easy a 6 year old can do it. You use it to enable telnet and SSH permanently and then just flash the firmware with the same program.

Ah ok, don’t see that - still the standard firmware should support QoS as a basic feature without having to resort to flashing etc

Please increase line speed the 4K Onlyfans is giving 240P vibes
