AP and Repeater Solution
Hello, I currently have the Zyxel VDSL modem it's the one with internal antennas, but it's not really going through the whole house to the rooms etc, so my idea is to use it as a modem and then buy a powerful AP.
So what WiFi device or setup would you recommend?
Hi Thor187
Two options for solutions:
1) As you suggest, use a more powerful AP device cabled to your router in the same room
2) Use a WiFi repeater at the edge of where the signal currently reaches to, in order to boost it further without cables
Both of these options have their pros and cons, so I recommend purchasing a device which is capable of performing both functions, and trying each mode to determine which one is better suited to your application and environment.
To this end, DrayTek offers a great business-class PoE WiFi AP called the
Vigor AP900.
It features concurrent dual-band n-WiFi radios and 4 gigabit LAN ports.
As you'll find in the WebUI link below, 2 of its 5 available modes are as above: Access Point or Repeater.
