Hi,

Im looking for a WiFi dongle for my Raspberry Pi.

But up to now, I could not find one that is not almost as expensive as the Raspi itself

And then the sales people don't know which chipset is used so one can research if it is compatable with the Raspberry Pi...

Anyone who can assist?

check the tenda small usb dongle under indoor wireless, it works out of the box on my rPi with Openelec :)

I have the ASUS (USB-N10) wireless-N USB Adapter, is tiny and works with Openelec and Rasbmc without issues.
Cost about $20

Check the wifi dongles here - you can see whats compatible and what requires an external USB hub. All the people posting here would do well to mention whether their dongle requires EXTERNAL power via a usb hub or not.

You want to look @ the chipsets as these are shared across brands - if a chipset works in brand a , it will work in brand b etc.
