Hi all

I was wondering if anybody who currently resides in Pinelands (Cape Town) has WiFi and if so from what provider and which package?

I'm curious because I would like to get wireless but was told by Wireless Online that they did not offer service in Pinelands due to the large number of trees in Pineland and hence line of sight issues. Does this hold for other Wisps?

I really don’t want to get an ADSL line but currently, with WO not providing service and the horror stories I’ve heard about Uninet with regards to contention ratios and speed issues, it seems I have no other choice.

I’m not looking for a fantastically fast connection (56k is out as 128k or above would be nice, but I can live with 64k as long as its up permanently) and was wondering what kind of experiences people have had.

I’d like to make an informed choice and I’ve looked at the options but I wanted to get peoples opinions before I started calling all the Wisps and/or dealing with the devil a.k.a Telkom. ;)

Netcontacts for individual?

Hey

Came back to check the message today and is seems like there aren't that many people in Pinelands with wireless ;) Connectedsa I though Netcontacts only provided connections for businesses ... do they do private installs as well (on their front-page they are adamant that they do not). Can anybody let me know if they do?

Thanks

I had a look at the CTWUG site - looks like a very interesting initiative.
How do we find out what nodes are in our area?
