Woke up this morning to find my WiFi on my pc(windows 7 64bit) not working, its able to see the network available but unable to connect to it, the WiFi network works perfectly on my Samsung S2 so I know the router is not at fault(BTW mega 100).
after exhausting all the IT know how I have, (wasted the entire day) I found a simple solution the problem, it comes up after a installing the latest windows update, I know this cos as part of my troubleshooting I rolled back my PC to few days back, the problem was solved but as soon as I re-installed the updates the exact same problem cropped up:crying:, to be honest I don't know which is the offending update but I narrowed it to 3 namely KB2829361, KB2830290 and KB2804576

but the solution could not be easier if any of you have such a problem, log on to the modem using a smartphone or other working device on the network. Go to the WiFi settings and change the channel to an arbitrary number between (1-12) save, restart AP and like magic the PC WiFi starts to work without further clicks, but might take longer than usual to obtain an IP

(side note it may be possible to use a cable, never tried it out tho to lazy to carry the pc over besides I could do anything I wanted to do with the modem interface "10.0.0.2" via the phone )

hope this helps somebody

I have a D-Link WiFi Card (old, think it's a DWA-510), and it hates Windows Updates. I don't select driver updates for it, otherwise, it stops working, or constantly DCs. Rolled back an update for the WiFi Adaptor a few updates ago, and never looked back.

Resetting the AP every time, just about, was a PITA.

Try changing the channel next time its allot less painful, your report back would be appreciated
