I would like some advice on how to best setup a home Wifi network please.

Environment is as follows:-

Neotel Wifi router - LAN cable - wireless LAN switch - LAN cable - wireless LAN switch

The signal does overlap so the question is what to make the SSID's, different (meaning on most devices you have to manually change as you've around the house) or the same (are devices like phones and tablets clever enough to choose the strongest one automatically)

What channels are best selected at each one and does the fact that we also have a cordless phone matter?

Make the SSIDs the same as well as the security settings.

If you're in android, download Wifi Analyzer and check which two channels are yhe least busy and use one of those channels on each switch.

Thanks, can you expand a bit on that, will all the various devices choose the best signal automatically? Any advice on channel numbers ....

Channel numbers depends on your area. Post a screenshot from WiFi analyzer.

I will do that a bit later today when I have it all setup and running. Just need to go collect one of the LAN cables just now.
