I understand, I guess there is just to much variables in play.

Let me rephrase this. 500m2 building if I put that in the living room will I have good signal throughout the house?

Ive seen the nano stations being used. Not sure which model of it was used but it was rated at +-2km at point to point line of site with a router on one end and an router configured as an access on the other.

Please post feedback once you get more information. I live on the beachfront and would like it if my wifi can extend when im chilling on the beach.

Well, it probably would send the signal throughout the house, but then it will depend on the client's wifi capabilities.

You can easily send a signal out for 10Km+, but no use sitting with a cellphone that can't connect as it can't do 10Km...

I do not understand that part?

If my AP can create a 10Km radius dome then surely any device within that dome can connect? Oh wait. so the client device has to send the signal back 10km to the AP am I understanding this correctly?

It will not work, i.e if you put it in the middle of the building, it will only go through one or two walls. No matter what brand you go for. Best to cable quite a few points and add AP's such as the Unifi's or OpenMesh.

Yes that's correct, client device needs to be able to communicate back over said distance as well.

Smokes!

Then this all sucks, what's the point of these strong APs then if my phone and tablet is consumer grade.

Well they are for creating long distance outdoor wifi links where both sides are capable of said distance. Indoors it's better to have a few AP's if it's a big area with lots of walls

Okey so what you are suggesting or explaining.

This would be better;

House (500sqm):
One VDSL router (main) hub.
Lan cable to cheap tanda power plug router thingy, five of those spread throughout the house.

Then outside one ubiquity nanostation from house to ubiquity nanostation of flat

The flat (60sqm) inside lan cable from ubiquity to a router inside and lan cable to another router on the other side of the flat.

They're usually meant to be used in pairs, so you need another one on the other side who can ye'll just as loud back with a response.

That makes a lot of sense now, rookie mistake.

TP-Link TL-WA850RE x 5 - check

VDSL routers - check

Telkom Landline active - not yet

Ubiquity nanostations - on my way to scoop in a few minutes.

Because these aren't really AP's and meant to go outside buildings on poles for point-to-point or wide area links.

The UniFi is what you want.
