I've got a D-Link DI-624 wifi router, which I have been using to connect my PC's at home successfully.

I've now added ADSL to the equation by plugging a Billion 5100SM ADSL modem into the WAN socket of the D-Link, and set the router to dial out automatically.

Problem:
I can't connect to the internet from my PC! BUT, I can ping internet sites by using the D-Link's PING test tool within it's own web configurator. This means that the router is connected to the Internet, and I'm connected to the router, but I can't connect to the internet...

Any ideas?

By the way: The D-Link won't assign a DHCP IP to my PC, which is set to "Obtain IP Automatically" in Windows Server 2003. The only way I can access the network is when I set a static IP to 192.168.0.200. What should I set my Default Gateway to? The DLink IP or another one?

Thanks!

Set the default gateway to the Dlink router IP, probably something along the lines of 192.168.1.* or 192.168.0.*

Dont forget to set a DNS server, if the Dlink has a DNS caching server, use its IP address, else use the Telkom ADSL one

Hi Jeeves,

Which device is handling your ISP authentication? I'm asking because I don't know d-link and I'm not sure if it has such functionality, but I do know that the 5100SM is a pure modem (not router) and one needs to setup a PPPoE connection in Windows in order to authenticate.

Have you tried the SM on a normal LAN port on the d-link?

Pretty sure the Dlink router is handling ISP authentication, as the 51200SM is a modem only.

He definately needs the modem connected to the WAN port.
