I've asked this question before but havent been able to get an answer, so I'll try again.

My friend and I want to share a local only account as we already share his saix account, problem is he has the line/router at his house and I connect via WIFI. Now we run the router in PPPOE mode and would like to share the openweb local/his saix connection and split it via routesentry. We know how to do this on his machine but not on mine since i connect VIA WIFI.

How would I be able to share the second account via wifi, I don't want to have to keep changing acc details on router/disconnecting one account to do this. Solutions must be possible for WIFI.

Thanks

If you can do it on his, you can do it on yours. It's much the same. All you need to pay attention to is the network setup in terms of dns, etc. etc. When you say he has a router in bridge (modem) mode, I assume you mean the router has a LAN port and is not connecting to a PC with USB (i.e. it is a router in bridge mode).

Configure routesentry in exactly the same way on your machine. Is the WiFi network on the same subnet (IP address wise)?

If you take the trouble to describe your setup a little more, you will find people willing to help...
How does your friend connect to the router... is his machine on the LAN like the router? Does he have DHCP enabled, what is his IP address, DNS, etc.

Are you saying that the router is in half-bridge mode? That is, the international connection is initiated at the router level. And the local connection is initiated as a pppoe connection on his computer?

In fact, when you connect to the internet, do you:

i) start any pppoe connection, or
ii) do you just use the wireless manager to connect to his router and away you surf?

Option II

I just connect to his router with the windows wirless configuration zero config thing then away I surf, yes dhcp is enabled.

So his router is in fact in router mode and not bridge mode. You still haven't bothered to share details. What model of router is it - maybe someone can explain how to put it into bridge mode. You said:

"Now we run the router in PPPOE mode and would like to share the openweb local/his saix connection and split it via routesentry. We know how to do this on his machine but not on mine since i connect VIA WIFI."

Please explain to us how you can run two accounts on his machine, but not yours....

groundnut, from what he explains the router is most likely in half-bridge mode. That is a pppoe connection is estabishled by the router (say for international) and another pppoe connection is established on the friend's computer itself (say local). Then you just tell routesentry to direct international through the router directly, and local through the pppoe connection the computer has established.

So jsheed_sa runs the wireless manager and this connects him to the router (the international account). He just now needs to split the traffic on his computer via routesentry to send international directly via wifi to the router. He should then create a pppoe connection on his computer with the local account details. He should then tell routesentry to direct local traffic through the local pppoe connection on his computer first.

That's the theory which I am pretty sure is correct (assuming wireless lan works in the same way as ethernet). The detail however is another thing. jsheed_sa search for vista routesentry on this forum. I suspect that should send you on the right path.

EDIT: This is what I am thinking. If you are not using Vista I don't know whether the XP routesentry shows the adapter as an option. If not you best hope that the vista version can work on XP.
