Wifi Router Recommendations and Set Up.

Well the manual says it can handle about 300 clients I've seen it do 150 not break a swet. So yea, also deployed it in one of the start homes and worked great.
 
Buy 3 Cudy AX3000s, run cables from 1 to the 2 others, load openwrt, use 802.11r.
And Bob's your aunty.
You could also make your central hub an Intel mini PC with 2 NICs which also does the Internet Access and use a switch to connect all the APs.
On the hub run SQM.
You will have better Internet than 99% of South Africa with all their Dinky Toy k@k.

@Fickle has an issue with his setup. Joey from friends when eating a dessert made with a truffle and meat said "whats not to like, meat good, custard good"

If we making a soufflé great lets throw everything out and get Ubiquiti as thats how I like to make it. Seamless roaming from a single SSID and one pane of glass for management. Not the only recipe that works

If not then Tplink good, Reyee good, Cudy good, you know what one of the very few Tenda products the F9 also good!

I've thrown two Reyee's in the bin. Gemors. Replaced them with the Cudy AX3000s. Haven't used any other model yet.

TP-Link and tenda need to be moered using a hammer before being thrown in the bin.

I use what Elon uses...

Well the UBNT wifi is better than the marshmallow toasters in the Mikrotik dinky toys. But jirra man, that controller that is programmed using java is worse than a Traubie.

I also chucked my 3 tendas and replaced with 2 Cudys.... chalk and cheese and couldn't be happier. What's the compelling reason for loading OpenWRT over stock firmware? I'm running stock and it just works.

You haven't talked about your WiFi channel setup. If you have separate SSIDs even more important that WiFi channels don't overlap internally and with your neighbours

Why not mention range extenders?
Why would you need mesh if you run router - cable - router - cable - router?

I did mention you can do the EW1200 also works with a wired/wireless mesh.

ISP throttling you or outages or whatever...
Range extenders and mesh extenders I would say are two different things. Extenders are the bane to any professional tech guy, they don't work. Meshed extenders do.
Depending on the topology of your network you can mix and match as the above picture illustrates, each to their own. my personal opinion if I had only 20mbps I still would do it, maybe not the pro but go for the EW1200 or even EW1300G I would like to have 20Mbps throughout the entire house and that the one network prioritizes the network that it effectively utilises the 20mbps connection I would have.

With alot of brands whats good is very model specific.

Openwrt provides the latest Linux kernel which rocks. It has the best networking stack around.
It also has 3000 applications of which one is SQM which is mandatory for gaming.
There are many more standards based application in the network stack and it's far better on security.

What would the ubiquity setup look like?

So this cross talk isn't something I know much about besides that it happens.
I note that also the Reyee only runs at 160mhz. Does that mean it has a single channel? Is that problematic?

In the current set up (not a series network and the wiring remains though new hardware) because of the wiring to the 2xsecondary AP's, the signal coverage doesn't overlap much but this is something I must figure out. There are s**tload of other networks that show up from the surroundings (complex across the road). Any article or resource suggestions I can go through?
