Good Day

I don't even know if this is possible, but I'm going out on a whim. I have the following situatiom.

I have an uncapped ADSL line at home, and everyone in the family uses it, but lately they have been abusing the network and going over my qouta which means I keep getting throtthled every month. I would like to know if it is possible to perhaps limit the speed on a specific device, for example using a MAC address.
Router is a DLINK DSL-2750U

Thanks in Advance :)

Who's your ISP? Is there an after hours free data thing you could use?

If you got a proper uncapped account (wtf, I know..) would that make a difference? Or would the offender just klap full speed all the time on that too?

Do you know / suspect who's klapping it?

There might be easier solutions than what you propose...

Mine does not have the Traffic Control Tab.

I think that is one of the things that don't work on the Telkom branded models.

Can you limit the speed of the guest wifi network? Then you could have them connect to that instead. Otherwise a new router will probably be the best way.

I agree wiht Budza

the problem is not in the usage, its with your ISP.
clearly, your uncapped package is not good enough.

give us some more info on your ISP.
who are you with, what is your cap. what is your monthly usage?
what line do you have?
is there not perhaps a better option out there for a lower price that might work better?

I mean if you are getting throttled on the 26th of the month and you have used 200GB then your ISP sucks.

give us the full story here man.

Sorry, that's the wrong model, the comments asked about the 2750U which is why Google found it.
Seems the 2750U does not have that feature, paging through the manual you don't have a traffic control feature.

The QoS is enabled by default with no option to change it according to some manuals, while the middle east one states that you can enable it:
http://www.dlink-me.com/ftp/DLink_ME/ADSL/DSL-2750U/DSL-2750U_Manual_ME_1.00_20110302.(1).pdf

To access the QoS – Queue Management Configuration window, click the Quality of Service button in the Advanced Setup directory.

Put the D-Link in Bridge mode, disable DHCP
Buy Mikrotik 941 Routerboard (About R500) and run PPPOE off there. Set up DHCP server.
Set static IP's on Routerboard
Set up queues for IP's you want throttled.

We do this with all our DSL clients, and we have yet to get a complaint. Works like a bomb.

There are several ways to tackle this problem, easiest would be to upgrade your router to something that is more configurable like a Microtik or anything running DDWRT, you then need to setup Qos or thraffic limiting.

But personally I would go the harder route and get a raspberry pi and install IPFire, that will give you full control over your internet, and allows you to not only do Traffic limiting but block websites , hence eliminating sites that use too much bandwidth , you can also schedule times these blocks are in effect ;) , and block websites according to categories like blocking all adult sites so your kids dont have access. It also doesnt need any network configurations skills.
