I haven’t bought or used one of these for years - but essentially they were all the same with on/off and energy monitoring.

Anything changed with them since ?
I’m guessing they all support default power on as well?
Most of these things work with Tuya?

Long discussion on them here

I was going to post there - but I see it's more geared towards flashing, but let me try - thanks !

Hello, along the same lines, does anyone know if I can use eWeLink with this smart plug?

Would like to know, as Geewiz doesn't make the old ones any more

I'm happy with these: https://www.takealot.com/3-pack-tuya-smart-wifi-power-plug-south-african-2-3-pin/PLID73611428

The 3 pack works out a bit cheaper.

Works great with localtuya HA integration, had some running for about 2 weeks without any issue and want to get a few more.
On Geewiz it's R250.00 vs R270.00-R290.00 on Takealot, even with the packs

I bought a twin pack and a single on Takealot because Geewiz had no stock last week - but now that they do @ R250.00, I'm probably going to get another 1 or 2 through them

Thanks, I'll check out Geewiz!

Why eWelink over SmartLife?
I dunno, I've never used any smart app before. Should I use SmartLife instead? Then I can go ahead with the plug since it says it works with SmartLife

I suspect its more likely to work with smartlife, than ewelink

Ewelink uses the Sonoff plugs, and SmartLife hooks up to the Tuya based plugs which seem to be more popular amongst t he various brands

I haven't use eWeLink for a while - so can't really say

This is weird :

So I bought a single one of the below just to test .

It was adequate - so I bought another two of them a few days later (3 in total), through a different reseller on Takealot though. They look identical, operate the same and even came in the same box. On the FW, it seems to have the same firmware as well.

But going through Smartlife, it says the two new ones don't have statistics
It also says the older plug supports accurate metering ... and the geyser (CBI) is estimated

I've just bought another 2 - so interested to see what they say ...

Kettle and Dishwashing are brand new - connected yesterday
Washing machine is a few days old

To my eye, they should be identical

Nice :D

Have ordered 6!

Currently only use eweLink app (with Home Assistant) so will try add Smart Life to the list.

I bought another 2 through Geewiz.

Again they look identical to the first, but these have different firmware and behave totally different.

The LED on the ones received yesterday was a different colour

For someone with OCD having 3 different types plugs is horrible

The Tuya reply below - and it would make more sense if the boxes weren’t identical either or even the FW :) But yea it seems that unless you buy all of the plugs in one go from one reseller - it’s going to be a lucky packet. I doubt consulting the seller is going to be yield anything

“The same appearance of the device does not necessarily mean the same model. Device features and settings are determined by the device manufacturer. Regarding this issue, we recommend that you consult the device seller”

The ones from Geewiz have a totally different GUI … they don’t have a power button on the home page … and lack a number of settings.

Qualitel has a range of Smart plugs, a little more than the ones mentioned above. Would imagine they all have the same functionality as they get them made for them, but can't be 100% sure as I've only used their bulbs and switches.

Two have decided over the past few days that they do accurate monitoring and stats. The other two still don’t …
