Does anyone use their Wii to connect to the internet?

Yes, very limited compared to xbox, but there is a browser, shop for Virtual Console/Wiiware games and Mario Kart online !!

Can stream web video with homebrew... but my comms are WAY too slow.

I'm thinking of getting a Xbox too. Is the Arcade one fine?

Check the other thread, if you are going to use live get a HDD. For demo's, Arcade games, addons etc.

But remember that live is a closed system, no web surfing youtube etc. At least the Wii can do that.
