Hey all

Is it worth it to get my Wii on the Internet? Is multiplaying with other Wii players worth it?

What is the cost of either the Wii LAN adapter or the Wii Wireless adapter?

TIA

Libs

Multiplayer is fun. I current only play one game online (Trackmania). Speak to the people at www.wiiza.co.za for a better take on the online community. Regarding adapters (+- R270), it's only needed if you router doesn't have any wireless capabilities. Otherwise the builtin wifi in the Wii is sufficient for online play, even on a weak'ish signal

Thanks Luke

Does all Wii's have a built-in wifi?

I somehow missed that one as the manual only refer to a wifi and ethernet dongle.

If there is one, then I'll surely give it a try.

Do you have to buy trackmania or is it also free for the Wii? I assume you'll have to use the memory slot for storage for downloads?

And how do you control your car with the Wii?

YEs all of the Wii's have built-in Wifi. From my experience the wifi is more reliable than the ethernet adaptor. Atleast the one that I had anyway...

The wii has onboard memory for download games, you can extend that with an SD card. Download games are all under 40 meg.(Via the Nintendo shop)

You can use the onboard wireless but the LAN adapter makes it more stable.

There are a few games that we play often online :

Mario cart, Super Smash brawl, Monster hunter Tri.

Others play games like:
Black ops, the conduit, Medal of honour etc

Wii and internet play is not going to be like a xbox or ps3 but for the type of console it is, its fun....just use built in wifi I stream via ftp to my computer using wifi and words good just not full 1080 hd movies buffer a lot, but also if u have a softmod wii internet to the box helps as u can download homebrew direct from the wii and even grab some old classic games

Thanks Luke

Most of the questions answered already...
Trackmania, like all other Wii games, has to be purchased :) Although there are a number of controller options involving the WiiMote, I ended up purchasing a wireless gamepad, similar to this one . Feels a lot more natural

The Wii has a clunky online service, but it can have great moments. Mario kart and monster hunter are awesome online games.

As for downloads from the Wii shop, here's my favs http://discless.co.za/wiiware-gems/

Definately check out wiiza.co.za lots of info and helpful people there. And you can organize some online sessions there
