Well my GF is naggin me for a Wii, i just want to know from the people that have a Wii, is it really worth the purchase?

Im really concerned on spending that much money on something that may become white elephant.

Suggestions and Opinions Well come.

My mate has one. Play it whenever I am at his place. It really is a lot of fun..

You might find that the Sports games that come with the Wii get old quite quickly, though you always feel like picking it up and having a quick game of tennis or bowling every now and then.

Multiplayer is lots of fun, too. Sadly there are not a lot of great games available in SA yet, which is a pity, and the ones that are available are quite expensive.

If I was going to get a console there is no way I would get anything other than a Wii right now. It can only get better from here!

I hear people saying the unit is more powerful than a PS2 ... Is it?

Yes. The Wii's innards are an overclocked gamecube with more RAM, devs have put it as about on par with the Xbox 1.

Shank, Wii owners love there Wii's and if you're happy spending that on something to doodle around with with friends and family then it's great, but a lot of "enthusiast" gamers find it a bit short on content with depth and end up playing their day to day gaming on PC, 360 or PS3.

I Wiish there was a Wii2 :/

But agreed with other comments here - I'd get it for fun and not graphics

If the Wii were about a Grand I'd say it's worth it for me.

Otherwise this year Gametrak fusion/freedom comes out and apparently MS have another Wiimote wannabee in development as well.

Where do i start? First of all the gamecube had the power of the first xbox. The wii has about double the power of the gc. The reason it doesn't look that way is because of lazy devs. I've had my wii for about 4months. I play on it regularly. Sometimes with my gf, but i prefer single player games. The wii situation in sa is improving. As of this morning super mario galaxy has hit the shelves of most reggies and toysrus shops. At a reasonable price of R500 no less. Core said we'll have plenty more games by the end of the month. Most of my games i've got from take2. Metroid 3, mario, zelda and mercury meltdown revolution are great single player games. I've have them all. Don't forget no more heroes is coming soon as well. At a time were i was getting bored of traditional gaming the wii got me interested again.

Strangely enough when finiding reviews on the games for the Wii, it does not seem to score very high, well im not the one thats gonna be playing much so i guess its ok for her.

Maybe a second hand Wii will do, thing is, Im in Richards Bay and i don't think there is much Myadsl users down here , even owning a Wii.

Darn

That was amazing just as i was viewing this post and i saw a Wii advert on TV XD super mario galaxy that was freaky anyway looks cool(yeh my computer room is close to TV room)

R1000 would reasonable for what I'd use it for (beer fueled braaing distraction and drinking game accessory :p) but the current price equates to around 6 months worth of 360 game purchases for a fussy gamer like myself.

Since I've had my wii I haven't touched my Xbox 360 (till we bought Guitar Heroes 2, that is...)

It all depends what you want to play thed33p.

I'm the exact opposite, since the Wii came out, so many great games have been released for the 360 I wouldn't have time, even for something like Mario Galaxy ;)

Since I've got my wii the only thing my pc is good for is browsing the net. Even though I have bioshock and world in conflict and the rest. It's been Metroid3 and Mario Galaxy for me all the way.

It's a sign. :p

Have a girlfriend, so I thought it would be cool to have a Wii. But I still beat her at everything which makes her miff so we don't play. Except boxing - how the hell she's so good at that is a mystery.

Nintendo products are pretty reliable. I've still got my 2nd hand Gamecube from about 4 years ago running no problem, and the controller too. Went through about 4 non-Nintendo controllers during that period. Point - get a second hand Wii. Pay the extra for delivery if necessary. Personally, I do not really play mine, but I've vowed to keep it until I get a chance to play Brawl.

Had my DS Lite for about a year now and still use that frequently. Also bought that second hand.

Like arguing you need to let them win once in a while ;)
