I am guilty of misjudging WikiLeaks in a coupla areas.

#1 I made a huge boo-boo in thinking that Sweden was independent and would tell the US to take a hike. I expected the UK to cave-in to US pressure as they are the usual American puppets. It’s been the other way around. US puppeteering worked with Sweden but the puppet master struck-out with the UK.

#2 I thought Assange was making a mistake giving himself up to the authorities. Rather go outlaw. Pull-off the current WikiLeak’s stunt and then go underground and disappear with a false ID. The WikiLeaks vision was more comprehensive. Garner global support by complying with the law (friendly hackers brought down the Amazon, Mastercard and Paypal sites) and spin-off several WikiLeaks clones. There is now OpenLeaks (Assanges estranged deputy), BrusselLeaks (cover-ups in the EU),IndoLeaks (cover-ups in Indonesia), BalkanLeaks (cover-ups in the Balkans [duh]) and so on. There are also institutions in the oppressive ME.

And the world is laughing as the scumbags scurry around trying to cover their butts.

He never saw the media destroying his image so effectively, nor did he realize how many people are brain washed by the media.

They discredited him so fast, absolute genius to destroy his image.

Quote from Dark Knight:

The public likes you. That's the
only reason that this might fly.

But that means it's on you.

They're all gonna come after you now,
and not just the Mob.

Politicians, journalists, cops.

Anyone whose wallet's
about to get lighter.

Are you up to it? You'd better be.

Because they get anything on you...

...and those criminals are back on the
streets, followed swiftly by you and me.

I’m not quite sure what you are getting at. Are you saying that the US controlled media was so fast to react that it was an obvious smear?

They **attempted** to discredit him making the smear obvious even to randomly interviewed people in the street. A Swedish prosecutor initially drops the charges? Sweden is agitating for extradition but can’t even give Assange’s lawyers any evidence against him? Even the brain dead can see these are trumped up charges so the US can get him in their clutches (as if this would help anyway).

They are meant to look like trumped up charges to make him into a hero and add weight to the leaks.

That’s pretty baroque! It would also imply that he had control of the media (he’s the only one that would gain). You’re wrong. He’s not Superman, just Joe Bloggs with principles, sick of cover-ups. And the US is getting hysterical because **American** whistleblowers are also nauseated and blew the whistle to WikiLeaks for **general distribution**, not to American enemies (usual espionage).

I dunno about any of you, and I'm going to /tinfoil a little here, doesn't all this seem a little obvious and scripted, the charges, arrest, even threat of extradition. It's like we're watching a movie and nobody realises we're all part of the plot. Imagine it, Assange great anti hero against the great evil America with it's arsenal of secrets.

Intro secrets. Everybody's like "Oh, there really isn't that much going on that we didn't already know. Agh America's not so bad, what were we thinking."

America comes out tops looking like gold.

He isn't the only one who stands to gain, as I said, it adds weight to the leaks. The ones who have already gained from the leaks thus far do control the media.
You really believe the west, the most powerful, wealthy, technologically advanced group of nations on earth couldn't come up with a better strategy than flimsy, trumped up charges? Is it a habbit of theirs to hire retarded people as their strategists? I think not.

Dude have you seen what people will believe? on this forum you have 2 loyal US okes who think the truth should stay hidden, what is kept secret should never be leaked.

Believe me the sheep are eating this rape charge up in their droves. Don't underestimate the power of the media to sway people.

I work with so many gullible people :( practically the whole office is petrified of management and what they say is gospel. I stand a lone warrior...

I take it you mean the US? The US has no past record of this kind of subtle manipulation. They have always relied on the military or economic clubbing (or the threat thereof) of recalcitrant nations. When ‘the pen’ is wielded against them, their ‘clubbing’ facility is useless.

You really believe the west...
Correction:
In this instance ‘the West’ = America. Other nations of ‘the West’ have little interest in America’s dirty laundry other than to tighten their own security apparatus (so that it doesn’t happen to them) and to think of ways to avoid US pressure.

... the most powerful, wealthy, technologically advanced group of nations on earth couldn't come up with a better strategy than flimsy, trumped up charges? Is it a habbit of theirs to hire retarded people as their strategists?

Well...yes. I wouldn’t call them retarded, but (like others) they just want decent pay, family time, a cold beer, braai’s, etc. and for the clock to indicate home time. In aggregate, they are formidable but are totally lost when their major weapons are useless. Like an irritating mosquito and an elephant.

No, I don't. The US has lost more than gained from the leaks. The US doesn't own it's media, individuals with alliances and agendas do, and THEY (those who gained from the leaks), do have a well documented past of subtle manipulation. They also applauded transparency before the leaks were released.

They can and do buy the best strategists in the world. They pay them huge amounts of money to forget family time, cold beer etc.
You are obviously severely under-estimating them. It's not like someone wanted a cold beer, handed in a very counter productive strategic plan on a very important topic without thinking about the obvious reprocussions (which is their job), and everyone just implemented it without scrutinizing it's blatant flaws. Someone obviously pushed this inferior strategy on purpose.

The truth of the matter is that the US were lax enough to let all this information enter the public domain. Assange didn't sign a secrecy act.

What WE see on a regular basis, is FAR from what the general public sees. Mass media IS controlled by the very same people who put their puppets in high-placed government positions - whose side do you think they're going to spin in a positive light?

When the mass media is telling it like it is, we have more of a chance - until then, it's just debate.

Careful of "tinfoiling" around here you might end up with a group of true believers...;)

Maybe I am. What is this enraged ‘elephant’ going to do? Assange seems to have covered his bases. An encrypted ‘insurance’ policy and a system whereby material is released irrespective of actions to him personally. If he is killed or WikiLeaks is brought down, the ‘insurance’ files are released. Even vindictive vengeance is being denied to the US. All they can do is grind their teeth in helpless rage and glare daggers. Looks like checkmate to me but I am ‘severely under-estimating them’.

Not genius, its the oldest trick in the book. Thats how politician scumbags and puppet masters operate. They don't enter into a discussion when people make assertions, they just attack the image of the person making the assertions, pump the propeganda on the media, and the sheep follow.
Look how quick they destroyed Michael Jackson's image. F8I was investigating him for over 15 years or some****, and they found NOTHING on him, yet the media just pumped everyones brains full of allegations and speculation. Suddenly a guy who sings "heal the world, make it a better place" is a child molesting pervert that gets shunted out of public view.

People turn on the news, and the news explains to them how to think, the same paternal figures on the news for years and years, pumping the neuro linguistic programming, suggestions, commands, anchors etc, pace pace pace, lead lead lead.
Check out some of Alan Watt's movies. The Arrivals. (torrent)
Strange shiz.

Strategists don't think inside the box, lest their strategies be predicted or revealed, they think outside the box in a way that you cannot. The trumped up charges were predictable and transparent. The banks refusing to service wikileaks was predictable and transparent. The media seemingly turning on assange was predictable and transparent. You are in the box, you cannot see outside the box. You have connected the dots that someone has spoon fed you.
