After Searching for a thread I noticed there wasn't any WildStar Thread. So after the first beta weekend for Pre-orders I thought I'd Start one.

First impressions this game is a lot of fun and I think I have found my new favourite MMO. the only MMO which caught my attention as much as this was WoW and in my opinion WildStar blows it out the water(Yes I know WoW is 10 years old - but is still the benchmark for MMO's)

The Graphics, all I can say is it is a damn pretty game. Alot of people including myself were very wary of the cartoony style graphics but its done very well and looks amazing and suits the game to the tee!

Combat is crazy and intense and very involved, the whole telegraph system is great, there nothing like being on your last legs and your attacks missing or dodging out of your enemies attack.

The lore has me very involved already, I only got to play on the Exiles side so far but damn its good. From a couple initial reviews the dominion lore is not as exciting but as I said I only got to play with the Exiles.

There is a lot I didn't get to this weekend ie. PvP, housing, customizable mounts, etc. but what I did get to was really enjoyable. it was plenty fun playing the beta this weekend and I cant wait for the next one.

Forgot to add, there is a lot of humour involved in the game and its very funny when you die and get told that "Lots of Souls find rest in this place, but a few just won't die and I'm referring to you!" there are lots of little Easter eggs that are hilarious

Now the bugs/problems. Please note it is still in Beta and final release is still 3 months away.

The frame rate is terrible at the moment doesn't matter what you do with the graphics setting you don't often get higher than 40 - 50 FPS
from reading the forums PvP was very problematic this weekend, players unable to connect or connecting then not able to get out of the battlegrounds
I had a problem getting onto one of my characters, kept getting network connection closed.
The latency was all over the place 300ms then to 2500ms then back down to 400ms etc.
Plus lost of bugged quests and events.

anyway this was a very quick review, and not a very good one. I loved the game and really looking forward to the final release. if you guys are interested and looking for more info have a look at http://www.wildstar-online.com/uk/#page1

and here is a screen shot for the hell of it:

Yeah I also got involved in the beta weekend this past weekend. I only heard about this game in the dying hours of Thursday when some of the gamers in my office were discussing it. I’m so glad I stumbled into that conversation this game is frikken awesome.
I’m a bit of a late bloomer. I only picked up WOW for the first time about a month ago and been chipping away at it when I can since then. It’s a very, very cool game but it is a dated.
Then I saw Wildstar and it was like yeah that’s what I’ve been looking for. It has all the good things from wow revamped and redefined.
I love that it’s a little less serious in the quests and there are plenty of witty chirps. The quests seem to flow a little better and you don’t need to run for 10 minutes to kill one dude then run back for another 10 minutes. The characters are well thought out and I found it easy to identify with a number of them. I made about 5 characters with different races path etc. only took them all to about level 7 just to get a feel for the game.
I tried a pvp battle but since I’m a newb was just getting my ass handed to me over and over again. I guess it takes a while for some.
Since this pre-order costs around the same as the new WoW expansion I think I’m going to rather spend the bucks on Wildstar. There will definitely be those who prefer the old school look of wow but the new school comic MMO suits me for sure.

Finally this thread gets created.

I cannot believe I missed the beta, and from the looks of it they are gonna be hosting Closed beta weekends from now on. R900 ( at the current going rate in Euros ) for the game :wtf: ..

First ESO now this :/

Sadly I think I'm going to have to skip this .... Too bad cause I really liked it too ...

You can pre-order from takealot, the deluxe is R650 and you will get a beta key for all the weekends, here is the link

It's unashamedly Wow gameplay and mechanics, but plays very well. The more involved combat, story and interesting quests/paths made me happy to preorder it. Time will tell how end game plays out, but the holy trinity and raids are there, so should be pretty standard.

Will this have a subscription service like eso ? Would google it buy my work internet blocks almost everything

Yes, subscription based $14.99 / €12.99 / £8.99

Edit: You can play-to-pay like Eve though

C.R.E.D.D. is an in-game item that, when consumed, extends an account's subscription by 30 days. C.R.E.D.D. can be bought from other players in-game via the Commodities Exchange (CX) for earned in-game gold, or you can purchase C.R.E.D.D. online at the WildStar website. If you go for C.R.E.D.D. you can use your first month of gameplay to earn gold while playing WildStar.

Next month, instead of paying the monthly subscription fee, you can use gold earned in-game to purchase C.R.E.D.D. from other players through our in-game Commodities Exchange. You can then redeem your C.R.E.D.D. for another month of WildStar game-time. You can continue this cycle over & over again, enabling you to "play to pay" for WildStar.

it has a lot of aspects that are similar to WoW but I do feel that carbine have done a lot to be able to class it on its own. and the new UI should be out by the next beta weekend, lets see how that changes things up.

There is a lot more to the game than the above video shows...

here is a nice 40min video showing off each class, path, abilities, game mechanics, customizations, player housing, battlegrounds and so forth, VERY informative video :

The sheer mechanics and variety of options in this game is awesome... I can see wow losing a lot of players to this game.

O and i bought my pre order this weekend :)

OK. I have a number of questions.

  1. NCSoft published Guild Wars and are publishing this. Judging by one of the screenshots above, the action bar you have is limited to 6 - 8 skills or so as opposed to being like World of Warcraft where you can have all abilities on your action bars. Is this the case? If it is, I am going to have a hard time justifying this purchase. I ****ing hated Guild Wars and the limited amount of abilities you could have at any one time.
  2. Is the world instanced? That is, you run out of a safe area and get put into your own world where you and any party members are the only players in the world. Guild Wars did this and I hated it so much.
  3. With Warlords of Draenor releasing later this year, promising an overhauled graphics engine, how visually attractive is this game?

ok let me see if i can answer some of your questions:

1) there are additional tool bars that can be added and like WoW there will be mod support so if you don't like the UI it wont be long before you can change it with another one. They are also adding a this called action sets where you can save certain abilities and talents and change them on the go, so no need to go back to a trainer every time you want to change abilities or talents.
2)nope no world instance its the same as WoW everyone together all the time.
3) I have not seen what Warlords looks like so I can't really compare but from the few weekends i have played i think this game is beautiful its very colourful and visually pleasing.

it is a subscription base so if you are not sure wait until release and try get a 7 day pass, or try and get a beta weekend key, I know Curse gaming gave away a ton the last beta weekend.

Edit sorry on your question 1. I checked quick regarding this, you will only be able to use one action set at a time so limited amount of abilities, but as I mentioned you can change your action set at any time

Hey guys.

Anyone else going to be playing the beta weekend (This weekend - from 16:00 Friday)?

I'll be playing on EU servers, Realm TBD. - I used the EU key, but it said NA during install so will have to wait and see what it actually is I am assuming it will load up EU.

Haven't played WildStar before so I'll be starting from scratch. Let's form a nice group?

damn hawky358 this is the first weekend I wont be able to play. its an open beta weekend as far as I know... so you should be able to get keys for any mates you can get to join

That's too bad... This is the first local forum for Wildstar I've found (Then again I haven't been looking very hard)

They state it's a WildStar-community only beta weekend. Atleast I get to try it out :)

Did anyone get a EU Beta key for this weekend they not going to use? I didnt get a mail. There's a bunch of sites doing random give aways but its fastest fingers first and my fingers dont seem to be the fastest.
